If you got married would you like a really big one with all the ceremony too? If I did it would be a low key one with some ceremony too

Had a big one which was lovely

If, and it’s a big if I ever did it again I’d have a teeny tiny one, me and him and a few witnesses!

We got married in February after 8 years together (Valentine’s Day and honeymoon in Paris) - small wedding with 24 people. We did plan a big party for 200+ In June combined with birthday events....well you can guess the scenario with that one....

Was chatting about this the other day, I’d happily wear a 2nd hand dress, in fact my bestie 20 years ago said I could borrow hers after I saw her in it on her wedding day. It’s still in perfect condition, not sure if I will fit into it now!!

Love to have a field and a band as a reception... bit of a festival/hippy/pagan vibe...

Rather £20k + in the bank than spent on one day!

trip to tuscany, rent a villa for close family and friends, marquee wedding in the vineyards or close family and friends and a beach paradise, it often works out cheaper and its far more memorable

Nope. I'm engaged but we just plan to visit a registry office and then go on our honeymoon and have a very small celebration with our nearest and dearest when we come back.

I'd be too anxious to have a wedding. I hate being the centre of attention and I just think it's such a waste of money when you've not got a huge amount of money as it is. I'd rather spend that money on an amazing honeymoon or put down a deposit on a house.

Fuck no. We’ve been together 12 years, engaged for 7 and have no intention of the big wedding.

We’re going to have a tiny wedding, when we can actually be bothered to do it, then travel for a couple of months. I’d rather spend the sort of money I would on a wedding by going on a kick ass long honeymoon.

We had a very low key affair. So small the reception was held in my parents front room.

If we were doing it now we'd probably still have a small scale ceremony but in a beautiful location nearby.

If I did it again, I would just pop to the registry office, then have a very expensive lush meal and a night away, just me and him. Only because I have a big extended family and a eclectic group of friends. They are all lovely, but I wouldn’t be able to please everyone, so don’t want to focus on them, just us x

We were poorer than church mice when we got married, but we still managed to do the whole thing, dress, rings, suit, venue, buffet, church, DJ, wedding car, and two photographers....for £500.

The DJ, car, and pics were friends, the buffet was done by family, the suit and dress were 2nd hand, and we had a fantastic day.

However...if we won the lottery, we would renew our vows and make it a huge event lol.

Married on a beach, with just our two best friends, perfect.

Still together 28 years later and still have our best friends, will go back someday when all kids out of the way.

Low key. Did the biggish wedding & thought it was a waste. Nice but a waste.

Hate traditional weddings also...sooooo by the book. Be different. Do what you want. Dont conform.

My other advise is not to get married at all but I wont say that!!

"If you got married would you like a really big one with all the ceremony too? If I did it would be a low key one with some ceremony too "

Been there,done that. Never again.

If someone is really that keen to splash a load of cash on me then, let's cancel the wedding and find better ways to spend it.

I ended a 8 year relationship after I was told an Asian wedding costs 60k+

And pressure for a diamond engagement ring or she was gone.

Now I wouldn't give a ring on the phone

The comments on here that big weddings are over rated have restored my faith in humanity

First wedding was thrown together with 2 weeks notice, spent about a grand (21 years ago).

Second wedding we had 18 months to plan and we made it a geeky wedding, this time I allowed myself all the little touches I didnt have the first time round or was unheard of then, was there a difference? We spent about 4 grand and actually felt like a proper wedding and reception, wouldn't do it again though lol.
