I hated it and couldn't wait to leave!

I was very much a shadow at school..a loner but there were reasons I tried to stay in the shadows..but my happy times

Hated school, I used it to learn the basics...math, English, science, chemistry and geography, but mainly to date girls.

Left ASAP.

School is not for everyone, I personally learnt more away from school than I did at school.

Also embarrassing for me cos word got out when I was 13 that I'd used a Star Bar on a gf

so even had a couple of teachers calling me Star bar kid...lol, funny now but not at the time

I was a bit of a skinny, nerdy, brace face. I was very studious and a high achiever but also artsy and a dancer. I went to after school art club, after school and lunch time dance club and I was in a dance school in the evenings. I was considered uncool and a swot by the popular kids but actually had quite a lot of friends among the arty, drama, music, sporty and alternative kids and also had a small group of very tight knit friends. I quite enjoyed school really, as long as I managed to stay out of the way of the popular kids.

I arrived at senior school the same height I am now so at the time towered over everyone, even the boys.

Became House Captain and Captain of all the different sports teams in my first term. Top of the year academically and then before 3 years were up walked out of school one morning because the bullying had finally got too much.

At my new school I went for obscurity and purposefully didn't excel at anything so that nobody would see me.

It has had a negative effect on my life ever since.

School was quite literally hell on earth for me. I was told everyday I'd be nothing all I'd ever do was time in jail because I was so thick. Thick was the last thing I was as I've proved over and over again. I was dyslexic and way back then nobody understood it or even knew what that was. In truth a hell of a lot still don't but hey fuck em all it matters not any more. I'm now pretty much financially secure and I've pretty much retired from work or at least any work I don't enjoy. But is money what makes you happy as it never really has for me. Ok yes it makes life easier what's truly made me happy is being loved by a lady I spent most my life looking for. Yep you got it gerry and for her I thank my lucky stars each and every day. All together now awwwwww

Never really been popular aways on the fringe of friend groups, I was bullied like heck through school physically and verbally, always felt out of place because I wasn't girly or vain or into the latest boy bands or have the latest fashion trends as have older siblings so had hand me downs which didn't bother me but did bother others

Guess I'm not that much different now really I still don't fit in anywhere

I was shy, also a loner.

After an incident in year 7 at school a lot of the other lads where a lot more ease with me.

I tried not to shower after games in year 10 and start of year 11 at school for an embarrassing reason.

Often the teachers let me off but sometimes said I had to but let me shower on my own.

The other lads in my class knew reason why

Absolutely loved it. Got the most out of it academically (and in sport) and made a tight group of friends that I still see to this day.

a science nerd put me in the nerd clubs. On the whole I had a brill time at school making lots of friends with a variety of people

The forums are probably the best place to hang out on here. It is always entertaining - from serious to silly. Don't know if I fit on Fab (the wider site) but I think I've found a place on the forums.

(Not by choice I may add)End of year Teachers v Pupils football match I broke Mr Chiggley's ankle in a tackle. Totally accidental honest. Mr Chiggley was a total cunt no one liked him hence I left a Hero

I'd say school was probably the worst time of my life. I was abused at home, so had no confidence when I started high school. I was so quiet and anxious.

I was an easy target and bullied daily. I had to change school four times and eventually ended up going to a school in a hospital as I was so depressed and suicidal. I couldn't put my head down and focus on my education and failed every exam.

I missed out on years of education because of bullies. I was hit and punched by people and mocked over my appearance daily. I was thrown in front of a moving car. I would constantly hear rumours about myself. I spent months in isolation because I couldn't go into classrooms. I spent hours in the toilets each day and one day came so close to hanging myself on the back of a cubicle door as I felt like I couldn't go on.

I'm lucky I met my partner as he changed my life and I'm so much stronger today because of him. I still have work to do on myself as I lack confidence and struggle with my mental health but I'm glad I was strong enough to carry on!

When I was young I was chubby and wore glasses and I got teased quite a bit. Then in high school I was bullied a lot for being "a goth" and for the way I looked in general and I didn't have many friends. I was pretty much the youngest in my year group and it wasn't a great experience. The older boys would try to set my hair on fire and would spit on me, and that was on a good day.

School wasn't really a great time for me at all.

Extremely talented at math and science. Read anything i could get my hands on, most lunchtimes spent in school library. Not so good at written english, now i realise that was because i agonise over choice of every word and phrase, and when you have to hand write everything it physically hurts to commit irrevocably to paper.

Utterly useless at team sports, hated every single moment of it. In later years of school was allowed to spend sports time doing cross country running through the wooded area adjacent to the school, getting out on my own surrounded by nature, my only happy memories of anything associated with sport at school.

Open showers after sports class - legalised physical, mental and sexual abuse of unpopular kids by both the bullies and by the worst of the adults.

Any sniff of feminine mannerisms in a boy was being a "puff" or "bent". The very concept of being transgender was unknown. Not surprisingly i was in my forties before i started to understand my gender identity (bi-gendered trans lesbian for those of you who don't know).

I guess i wasn't the most unhappy kid in the school, i did have a small number of friends (now lost touch with every single one of them). Never had a girlfriend.

I wouldn't say that school failed me, i did come out with excellent exam results that got me into a decent university, which has resulted in a good career and a comfortable lifestyle. In terms of social and personal experience though - not easy.

Wow, people would pay a fortune for this type of catharsis in therapy, some amazingly brave comments.

For me, I loved school, great group of life long friends and teachers. I had a mullet like Bruce Foxton, wore a tie knot the size of a small south American country, zero percent body fat and looked about 10 years old till I hit 18, when I morphed into looking 40 years old overnight and discovered real ale, male pattern baldness and porn...oh and experience swingers magazine.

At primary school I was a terror. Not maliciously badly behaved, just one of those very curious, very active kids who was always getting into some sort of big mad scrape. I was so bloody confident and so outgoing, I had no fear of pretty much anything.

I went to a very snobby secondary school and it was a very poor fit for me. I was out of my depth, I was the only one from my primary school to go there and I was an easy target for the bullies because I didn't fit into any clique. I was bullied from the day I got there at 11 until the day I left at 18. I became very quiet and really introverted, just focused on doing schoolwork and passing my exams because it was the only way I could see to get on in life.

At 13 I found some older kids outside my school that I got on with better, and that made things a bit easier. School was still purgatory but at least I knew I had some friends and would be out with them at the weekend.
