Are you?? Do you show this side of yourself to your partner often or is it saved for valentines day??

In my relationships ive steered away from it all.. but as im slowly getting older i see things between others and think 'awwww thats sweet'

With my ex i bought rose petals, candles, heart shapped champagne flutes, heart shapped chocolates all the ingriediants for his fave meal and come the day i was gonna use it just felt stupid and hid the lot away..

Cooked him dinner but that was it. didnt think men did romance

Romantic at heart. My ex-husband was romantic all the time...I realise I took it for granted. One boyfriend I had after was a true romantic, weekends away to Prague, Madrid, Paris etc birthday first class all the way to Cuba...shame he turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag. Present beau hasn't a romantic bone in his body...clueless, but bless him.

I love it, an elderly couple pass my house everyday with their little dog.... they are so connected it is a joy to watch them.

he is such a gentleman, walk on the outside of the pavement, takes her arm when they cross the road

From the big gestures, to hand holding, to making sure the washing up etc. is done when you're tired after a long day.

A phonecall at work, if I know you are in for a hard day...

Snuggling up, when you are not in the mood for anything else...

Getting takeaways, when neither of us feels like cooking...

Slipping you enough cash for you to enjoy a night out with the girls...

Setting up "hotel" breaks on the QT...

I enjoy my own company, but miss not having someone to give to...

Erm not too sure, I am just me, which people have said is nice and romantic but I don't really go in for the buying of hearts and all that. I'm just nice and like to make people feel happy.

ive never been bought flowers by a man.. but i dont think material posessions mean much. id much rather have a cuddle because its heartfelt than flowers because he thinks its the done thing.

I hate being bought flowers or jewellery or anything like that. I think it's totally tacky. A cuddle means much more. Or if he says something nice and I know he means it. Love seeing old people holding hands too.

Think people would be quite surprised if they saw jay and I together. Ive never been sloppy in relationships more of a cold fish. But jay and i are pathetically sloppy my best friend takes the piss. We always hold hands, hes always touching me, i get flowers almost every week 5 years weve been together and you would think we are a couple of teenagers just getting to know each other. Always holding hands when out. But as i said ive never shown that side of me before

I think the younger lasses would probably _iew such a gesture as strange so I wouldn't do it with them, but I kissed the back of an old ladies hand the other day and have done in the past too, not because I found them sexually attractive, but because they were lovely people that I was delighted to meet. Usually they seem quite pleased with such a gesture tbh.

I hold doors open too, but beware ladies! Bounders and cads will hold the door open when you are clearly at least a dozen feet away. Then feeling you are holding said gentleman up you will run or at least trot more quickly to the door. And said gentleman will enjoy watching your boobies bounce as you approach...

yes im actually very soppy and romantic but agree its the special lil things a partner does thats most important .

when we had the bad snow awhile back i was stuck at my work. my darling bunk kept txting me with up dates of road conditions andwas checking the traffic cams to see if traffic finnally moving so i could then set out and head home, which i did at almost midnight .

another time he saw how stressed out i was and packed me off to the gym for a couple of hours of "me" time

also ill get home after a long shift at week end and hes got my a bottle of wine waiting for me ! that means more than big flashy displays but id not say not to being wisked out to a romantic meal and stay in a plush hotel hint hint bunk !! lol xx

I'm incredibly romantic and soppy and very chivalrous. The girl I'm dating at the moment laughs at me for it pointing out, not entirely unreasonably that I outwardly come across as miserable cynical bastard and it's a side to me that is unexpected.

I think it comes from my parents, my old man would buy my mom cheap flowers and an insulting/funny (delete depending on perception) card on her birthday and valentines day and think that it made up for him treating her like shit for the other 363 days of the year. Could see what it did to her and would never do that to someone I cared for.

I have never got the rose petal/ heart shaped / champagne type thing, (no offence ) Those type of gestures and what I call staged romance isn't for me....and why the whole Valentines day thing isn't for me either.

Romance for me is the small things that a partner does every day, be it from making a cuppa in bed or rubbing your aching feet after you have spent all day on them.

A friend of ours says her hubby is romantic because he picks out the peas in her chicken fried rice as she doesn't like them.....now thats romantic...but also foolish as he is very slow doing it and if there are lots of peas the fried rice goes cold before she gets it
