I cannot seem to get motivated to excercise and the lockdown pounds are slowly creeping on.

Anyone got any hint or tips of how you get/stay/are motivated to excercise?

I have just go a new job and one hell of a payrise to go with it, so I am seriously thinking of getting a PT to whip me into shape? Is this me just being lazy again getting someone else to make me do something?

Motivation is something I'm struggling with too. I've started well and stuck with it for almost 3 months but now seem to have hit the wall. Need something to kick my butt back into it.

Pt’s are great if not just for the motivational aspect.

I’ve done a bit myself.

If you can afford it I’d say do it.

As for self motivation, routine.

Routine routine routine, get into the habit of exercise at the same time every day and stick to it.

Congratulations!! NO it's not you being lazy. Id say it sounds pretty motivated and like youre taking action. We can't always do everything ourselves, some things we just need support. And if you think it will work GO FOR IT! Why not! Good luck xxx

Thanks. I can afford it as its circa 11k payrise, so I feel I need to put it to some use, rather than just waste it on stupid girl stuff lol

I work shifts atm and my new job will have a slight shift element to it so unless it is 5am then I am snookered for the same time each day. But then again have I just made another excuse and 5am is the time and so just suck it up buttercup.

I don't know when the gyms are opening, so I have to try and do something NOW as well as a PT.

I found running early in the morning or late at night much better - fewer people around to see me stagger.

You’re right that you’re seeing excuses - use the opportunities

A good PT is a great idea as they help set you up to be able to continue working out most effectively independently. Also having an appointment helps with motivation. I find booking classes helps in a similar way. I also learnt a lot of great exercises from taking fitness classes.

Motivation only helps you to get out of bed. Commitment sees you through the goal!

I sometimes look at it in reverse

Commitment gets one out of bed a d dressed

Motivation gets you into the zone and fired up to begin and perform

Tenacity and determination and ambition takes one beyond the comfort zone and into exciting new territory

However I think it fair to say all parts are required

And regular commitment is the glue that holds it all together

What you really need for the motivation is the realisation of what you’re doing it for, what you’re target is and why you’re doing it. If you don’t have a true goal both motivation and commitment will be difficult to come by and hard to maintain. PT is a great shout though, the added motivation of having someone there was enough for me but they can do so much more x
