People who's profile goes on and on about politeness and respect yet when they are sent a very polite message (copied below) all they do is delete and block. I'm not some newbie who is whining that I don't get meets as I have been here nearly 4 years and have plenty of friends and meets from the site. I was just a little stunned by this reaction.

All the message said was:

Hi,

Just checked out your profile and I'm very impressed so thought I would take a minute to introduce myself. Love the PS on the end of your profile btw.

Please take a couple of minutes to read my profile check out my verifications and get back to me, even it's just a polite no thanks.

Thank you for your time.

P.s. The picture is about 3 months old, not changed much in that time, just a little wiser.

It was a face/head n shoulders pic.

Maybe they accidentally deleted u - cos this has happened to me in the past and then u cant find em again cos u didnt actually get to read the message or get on their profile - might that have happened?

No the message showed as deleted in my sent messages so I clicked on to the profile and it stated that I was blocked.

Guess the respect thing means different things to different people.

That message would look like a C&P job to me... so I would ignore, sorry!

I know you say "love the ps on the end of your profile btw"

....but the 'template' of this message is often used by so many single guys

I understand that, I was just stunned by this reaction from a single female who made it clear she wanted respect and politeness. Surely that respect should work both ways. No?

Did you meet their age/distance criteria etc?

Tbh when someone tells me to reply it instantly puts me off - I don't like being told what to do on a site that's meant to be about fun. I would have probably pressed delete.

The blocking might not be personal, some people do it so they won't get abuse but others just do it so it reduces the number of people in the pool to search if they know they're not interested.

Personally it depends on how hungry I am, how many dickheads cut me up on the way back from work that evening, how much money I've got until the end of the month as to how I take a particular message!

I get your point but again my point is the total lack of manners and respect from someone who made a a big deal about it on their profile. I suppose it was strange because 9 times out of 10 I will get a reply even if it's a no thanks. Never in 4 years have I had a delete and block before.

No! Not accusing you of using a C&P at all! However, so many guys say this sort of thing on a bog standard C&P, so many genuine messages like this can get caught up in that 'assumption'.

You sound a very trusting man which is very nice but the "single woman" you sent a message too is not photo verified and has hidden whatever verification she has obtained, "she" has immediately deleted a very polite message from a single man and blocked you...... that does make me think how genuine that lady actually is

I often reply with a no thanks and get abuse back. To be honest I would've thought this was common practice if it was a message from someone you didn't want to meet. It's not something I'd do personally but when people put the 'let me know either way' thing on it does too often lead to abuse so a lot of the time I don't reply if I'm not interested. It may seem a bit harsh but if that's the lady's attitude then you probably had a lucky escape!
