Would you class yourself as either? Wear it as a badge of honour!

My partner turned round to me last night and said, "you're a bit of a geek", as I was explaining something to her about smallville series while watching it. I took no offence at all, and asked her if it bothered her. She giggled, said no and kissed me, so can't be a thing surely.

I only see it as a good thing

Yes and no. I'm in IT and do 'geeky' things with PC's and mobile phones but I don't like most of the things associated with 'geek'. But can probably be 'geeky' about books.

I was an actual nerd when I was a teenager. You know, fat, bottle glasses, dubious personal care, tshirt from obscure Scandinavian satanic metal act, Warhammer obsession. Mostly repellent to anyone. This whole glamour-nerd thing seems inauthentic somehow...

I'd say I was geeky with a streak of nerd. I work in IT, read science fiction and fantasy, read comics, play tabletop rpgs and I'm obsessed with alternative and electronic music.

I don't think nerds of all people should be gatekeeping who gets to be a nerd or not. We tend to know first hand how awful "you can't be in our club" is.

I have used the words “well in the books” and “in the comics” to argue about details of a fandom so I guess I’m a geek.

Oh I'm not gatekeeping, it's just I remember the days when the term was flung at me as a pejorative rather than it being a quasi-desirable quality. Maybe I'm just bitter because I don't feel nerdy any more, idk.

I really enjoy geeky or nerdy conversation. Just the way people's eyes light up over certain topics, infectious enthusiasm. As long as it's inclusive.

Maybe a hint of geek in my Harry Potter and Star Wars love. Definitely a nerd. I was a full on brace faced swot in high school. I blossomed slightly as an adult but I'm still pretty nerdy in my intensity of thirst for knowledge.

As a side note, I'm VERY sexually attracted to geeks. Doesn't matter what the geeky interest is, it just get me all hot and bothered.

I like marvel but Star Trek isn't my thing. An ex of mine loved it though so I made him red yellow and blue cupcakes for his birthday and made little silver starship logos to put on them .

Haha thank you. Just my weird sense of humour.
