"If you are finding you aint losing any weight you are more than likely having too many calories. Tip would be make a diary of what you are eating over a couple of days then work out the calories. In general, men require 2500 calories so aim for less than that and depending on age/body/will power aim for between that and 1800 calories. Do not go below your Basal metabolic rate. You'll probably find you are having too many calories, so next tip would be eat small every 2 hours instead of 3 meals a day. Sorry for it being long." Thanks. I don’t think I eat badly, although I do like a beer, it’s not every day, I will start to keep a diary, I have used Lifesum in the past so will try that again,

I dont drink, but a good place to start would be replace beer with water, i did the same, replaced fizzy drinks with water. It has a 2 fold effect, you are consuming zero additional calories and at time the body mistakes thirst for hunger.

"I would recommend intermittent fasting, it’s excellent for fat loss, especially belly fat. It has a lot of health benefits too. People say they wouldn’t manage it, I said that too, bit it’s pretty easy once you’re in the habit. Don’t eat more small meals, that has the opposite effect It’s also better to eat ‘clean’ rather than using shakes, it’s much healthier " Jesus, I’d be more of a nightmare if I didn’t eat ![]()

"The best way is to be in a calorie deficit for a long time, it could be for 3 or 4 months, there are no shortcuts." The time of lenght depends how lean you want to be, from beach lean to contest ready there.

"The best way is to be in a calorie deficit for a long time, it could be for 3 or 4 months, there are no shortcuts." You say that but I've done keto for 3 weeks and lost all my belly fat with under 50 carbs a day and 8 pounds lost, so I then go low calorie per day to try and maintain and so far I've put 1 pound a week back on at a measly 1500 calories, and I run too, so low calorie doesn't always work for everyone.

" That is good, but it is not sustainable to be on a keto for too long and it seems that your maintenance calories have changed so now those 1500 is a new baseline to either eat more or less from.

"But 1500 calories for a male who runs and excercises 3/4 times a week is nothing as its a 1000 calories a day less than recommended intake, but I'm still putting a pound a week on. I know Keto isn't sustainable but I'll be back on it again soon enough at this rate. " That is good going. I have my summer diet at 2500 calories with a refeed day on the weekend with an extra 300kcal on that day.
