Do you enjoy cooking?

Jump to newest

So i can cook But I've always seen it as necessity rather than something to be enjoyed.

I think part of the reason is I've lived alone for most of my adult life and it just seemed a bit pointless for one.

Now I have someone to cook for and over lockdown I've really found a Passion and enjoyment from cooking.

So my question is do you see cooking as something to be enjoyed or just something that is necessary?

I really like cooking, when I have the energy!

Some evenings it's just a massive chore though, and I end up having just pasta and bacon... But in general, I really like to cook!

Just a necessity I like to get over and done with as quick as possible....

It's tricky when you live alone because often it just seems like a lot of time effort and expense.

I enjoy cooking, when the outcome is apriciated. Even if it's just me that's doing the apriciating...

It's fun to experiment and try new dishes as well.

But I also agree that sometimes it can seem more like a chore, and I just want to consume nourishment rather then having to go through all the effort of perpetration (and tidying up afterwards... ).

Yep, if you cook enough to make it worthwhile you're eating the same thing for days..... or freezing it which defeats the point to me as you still have to cook something else ....

Conversions exist online. Although cup sizes are different in different countries. I think the US is about 240mL capacity. Australia is 250 because like metric and shit.

That’s nice you found a passion for it

I’ve always loved cooking for others since working in a restaurant as a kid. Always use opportunities when travelling to learn new techniques and recipes too, most skills come from experimenting and practice though and a few good tools and ingredients, I think anyone with the interest and passion can be a great cook.

Once you have done it a few times it doesn’t matter , go by taste or texture not measure. Like when making bread, add water until it feels right, then a little more as you want dough slightly wet.

Measuring doesn’t really help and recipes for beginners will incorrectly say use a floured surface to knead , but you shouldn’t.

I'm much the same. It's a cultural/heritage thing for me and also a family one. I'm mixed and two sides of my background place a lot of emphasis on food. It's like a way of showing love and care for another and I love it when people cook for me unexpectedly.

Love to cook, from tried and tested recipes in my memory to trying a new recipe or just experimenting. I find it relaxes me at the end of the work day. Always set the table, candles on even if just me at the table (which is most nights) and sit down relax and enjoy what I have cooked.
