So with news that you will have to provide

Details to enter an establishment does the mean you will have to provide Caine form of ID.

Passport or driving license and if so how safe would you feel that you sensitive information is being stored safely.

I don't hand over my identification to anyone other than police and customs/border officials...I have 0 confidence in my data being protected..

If it means I can't eat at a restaurant etc so be it..

I'm happy to give my name and mobile number because most restaurants ask that when you book anyway.

Name and number I have no issue with,

I was wondering if establishment would require any proof of ID as I have read they could be using the test and trace system in some places.

I haven't heard that they will be asking for id but that doesn't mean they won't. I wouldn't be comfortable presenting id in a restaurant

My thoughts entirely, sensitive data in the wrong hands, selling in your details to fraudsters.

To much identify theft out there.

Passport and DL doesn’t contain sensitive info only

Personal info. Can’t see any issues, they will need to be GDPR compliant to request it though unless the new law makes exceptions for data protection

I believe they're working on getting GDPR compliance ready.

I have no issue with that. It's not why I won't be going

a quandary, could you change my mind?

"Passport and DL doesn’t contain sensitive info only

Any company with staff would have to be compliant already would they?

Yes is the simple answer. They hold details of their staff so they have to be compliant.

This is getting very silly with people saying they wont supply I.D . If you are lucky enough to look under 25, you get asked for I.D in licenced premises anyway. Do you think that puts people off going out?

Get a grip, it's there to allow us some freedom and the ability to be informed if it turns out we've been in contact with the virus. Early diagnosis and treatment means a better prognosis.

why do they need anything more than your name and number? How does producing id enable them to contact you via track and trace? How will people feel about producing a passport to get a happy meal?

Just going to point out that if you go to a pub, hotel or restaurant and you need to give your details to someone so they can track you, they will already be GDPR trained due to already coming in contact with lots of your personal details, slips from card payments, phone numbers, full names, email addresses, addresses, they might already check your ID, the lot. But their companies will give them regular GDPR training anyway.

It'd stop people saying "I'm Dominic Cummings and my number is 867 5309"

I can understand that but id wont verify your number or even your address.

It's a start I suppose. That's probably what they're going for. I don't know.

I think it's supposed to be basic contact info for me track and trace team to use.

Whether anyone will bother to recall all of the places they went to, is another thing. Even membership clubs don't have to get an awful lot more data than this.

Name and number is fine.. Showing id is fine too prove I'm me.... Taking a copy of my driving licence or passport not fine..

Both passport or driving licence combined with your card details are 1 of the quickest was to be a victim of fraud/identity theft etc

Your driving licence shows your address and a old but current robbery trick uses this to its advantage

It will be your choice if you give your details or not, we can't force you but it's just the same as booking a table & giving your name & number x

Name and number and a flash of the license is totally cool and I think very reasonable under these circumstances..any more and it brings up issues and ill just have to wait.. Hopefully it won't come to that
