The way we see it,John Wayne just played John Wayne in every film he did.

Which is probably why it took him so long to get an award.

We're not saying his films weren't enjoyable, just that he wasn't a sparkling character actor.

Most of his films were probably written around his style of acting rather than him having to adapt to or take on a role.

The centurion at the foot of the cross perfectly illustrates our point!

I think what jw does is take you back to an era where things seemed much better.

Kids played cowboys and indians and ran around . laughs all the way.

A time of supposed innocence.

nice days

bang ya dead...

Similar thing but opposite fields,in as much as you couldn't see H.G in an action role or J.W playing a love struck Yuppie!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned The Searchers - that's a bloody brilliant fillum.. whether you like Westerns or not, whether you like Wayne or not, it's a classic!!

IMHO, that is one of his best films, very dark and emotional, not the usual gun-ho type of characters he normally played

Exactly JoKing, it's quite a disturbing storyline - maybe why they haven't remade it with Eddie Murphy in the lead role. Yet.. I shouldn't give them ideas

Hope your big meet went well, by the way!
