Hello all, I am hoping for some advice to help me make a decision!

Through, and with my ex partner we developed a large group of friends, some of whom I see on a regular basis and count as good friends. The other day I ran into one of the ladies I use to socialise with and she told me that one of our mutual friends sons, who was always a bit of a tear away is now dealing drugs! I have no time for this lad as he has always been trouble to his mum from an early age.

However it transpires he is supposedly supplying drugs to the son and daughter of good friends of mine and I suspect they don’t have a clue.

As parents would you like to be informed that your children (all be it teenagers) are using drugs. I am thinking if this mutual friend is telling me is it common knowledge or should I be expected to say something? I think if I were a parent I would like to know My kids were using drugs, had anyone had similar experiences to this? What should I do?

Thanks for your time

I'd tread carefully of I were you OP, but yes your friends have a right to know their kids are in peril. Whether you choose to inform them anonymously or not would be a consideration.

I would tell your friends and then leave it to them to deal with.

I think I would want to know so I can talk to them about it. I wouldn't just lose my shit because I doubt that would do any good. I would try to encourage a proper discussion.

Yes, tell them so they can try nip it in the bud early on. Pun completely intended.

If the kids start acting differently and the parents don’t know what is going on in their lives, it’s going to be hard for them to communicate and could cause a wedge between them. At least if they’re aware, they can speak to their kids about it, rather than wait for it to escalate.

Yeah, I'd definitely want to know. Approach it sensitively, don't just throw it out there. You know your Friends best and how they might take it.

"Yes and you should tell the police but first deal with the fucker yourself"

All that leads to is the Op possibly being stabbed, beaten up or getting nicked for abh if they assault the guy..

It won't resolve the issue..

Depends on the drugs tbh. Something like w**d is relatively harmless. Most kids experiment with it and tbh the only way I decided drugs weren't for me was through trying them.

If it's something more dangerous/addictive then I would probably say something, but try to emphasise as much as possible that they shouldn't go in all guns blazing. Discussion is better than punishment (something I wish my parents knew when I was a teen!!).

Don't think it'd end well if you tell his parents, never seems to so I'd give the police an anonymous tip off, good luck.

Maybe tell the parents to be wary of the lad and have a word with their kids about him. Perhaps don't outright tell them their kids are doing drugs. No idea what sort of can of worms you could open with that sort of talk.

Fair play though, OP. You're just looking out for the youngsters.

This drug dealing lad though - sounds like he needs some looking after himself if you say he's been trouble since he was little

Hello all and thanks for all your advice, I have no idea of what type of drugs are involved but I do know that the Police were brought into the the local secondary school a few years back because of drugs and of course this lad was involved so the Police are aware his previous, and if there’s any local trouble he is not far away.

The trouble is my friends (the parents) know this lad too and the father can fly off the handle with the kids sometimes.

However having taken your advice on board I think I will have a quiet word with the mum and let her decide what to do

Thanks again for taking the time to respond ??

Just let his supplier know he is being watched by plod, they'll drop him like hot coals. These people don't like the police watching them, they like a supply chain with minimum fuss and risk.

Tell his supplier he’s cutting their gear and skimming the profits, not that drug dealers get upset by this sort of shit, much.
