Washing machine (not sexually related)

Ok gonna come accross as a total blonde bimbo, but, my washine machines stopped mid cycle, and the water wont go away, and the door wont open.

No idea what to do? Ive tried changing settings etc, and spin etc, the water wont go.

Try switching it to "rinse" and see if it will work.

Tried the rinse and spin thing, (dead techical i know) and no power cut and not fuse.

How old is your washing machine? Is it still under guarantee?

Also try googling what could be wrong with it and it may come up with a way to sort it

You should be able to empty it with the emergency drain at the bottom of machine. Dont know how to open it tho unless it has an emergency open catch in the same place

Thats what i had to do last time we had a power cut mid cycle. Its a pain but once emptied it worked ok.

Its 6 months old!! Ill try google just dont understand none of the technical talk. Tried empting at the front and it opened. All the water came away, but the same thing just keeps happening.

If its only six months old ring them up to come and sort it out. It should at least have 12 months guarantee with it

I had hotpoint here this morning as mine died last week, He had to replace both the cards as mid cycle they just stopped communicating with each other

I left it switched off at the mains over the weekend and out of curioisty switched it back on and it worked

For all of 5 minutes but its fixed now and has some catching up to do.

have you checked that the overflow can flow away or has all this rain slowed up the sewers? Might be a daft suggestion but I checked the water in, hose out etc before I bashed it the first time

maybe it is blocked, I had that a little while ago and I had to clear the filters. I had left a few plastic empty dog poo bags in a pocket and they had worked there way thro and were blocking.

I was able to take the cover off, unscrew the thingymajiggy, pull out the bags and hey ho.....

it was like I had climbed Everest, I was so chuffed.

Yup - probably the brushes - mine did the same and it cost £70 for parts and call out charge.

look for any kinks in the cold water pipe running of the back of the washing machine.

next check were that pipe connects to (sometimes it is directly under the sink).

if it is connected directly under the sink you may have a little lever,turn this so the water is stopped.

get a bowl and place it under the pipe.

loosen pipe and let water run into the bowl.

check for any blockage.

reconnect pipe and turn water supply back on.

where is the filter on your washing machine?

usually they are at the front in the lower right hand corner behind a panel.

open it and look.

you should see a knob which needs to be turned fully and they pulled out.

this can be hard to do so you may need help.

once out a lot of water could spill out so make sure you have plenty of rags or towels under the front of the machine.

reach in the filter compartment and check for fur and bits which may have come off the clothes.

clean the filter unter tap water.

replace filter but amke sure you have it back in correctly or water will flood out.

once you have checked the basics and you still have the problem it could be the sensor on the circuit board or the unit on the inside which the cold pipe connects to.

you need someone with a multi-meter to check the connections as the machine goes through the program.

get in touch if anything else happens or your not sure.

Yes i know i was shouting but if the machine is faulty and you open it and empty the water out you could get a shock and if you clean the pump it may start and chop off your pinkies

Well, update, Im still alive, I did turn the mains off, Go me! . Though my son got sent home from school and I had to take him to the Drs. So just sat down now.

Machine can wait till tomorrow. I need to actually find out where my water mains turns off first (bad I know). I'll try the cleanning thingy miggjiggys and if not Ill find a man that can.

here should be an on off tap where the pipe connects to pipes. After turning the mains OFF urn these off. Then check the outlet pipe - where it goes into your u bend (not YOURS LOL) there is sometimes a small fillter there. If his slightly blocked - clean it. hen try a spin cycle. If this does not work, you have a large fillter at the front at the bottom. Be perpaired for a lot of water. Get a load of towels ready and open the fillter plug. Make sure that this is empty.If both fillters are clear then its a safe bet that its you bushes.Simple job if you know what you doing.If you atempt the bushes check the water pump at the same time.
