shell suits...

there is a survey out that the Shell suit has been voted the worst fashion item of the last 50 years....

the spandex mini skirt came 2nd and Dungaree's came 3rd....

so..... 1) take that you polo shirt haters!!!

2... anyone want to own up to having owned any of the above.... call it therapy!!

3.... anyone want to own up to still wearing any of the above.....

4..... anything that should be added to that list.... can i say "boob tubes" the the worst looking things ever created!!!

Never worn any of those.

Shell suits, if they are new ones can look ok on fit young men though.

Some people are lucky, they look good in anything.

do like dungerees though i bought a denim dungeree dress short while ago but was too small mght make it into it by next summer maybe doubtfull for this one well if we were going to get one that is

See, polo shirts are fine as items of clothing. What makes us all want to throw up is when people wear them with the collars popped. Can't really blame the polo shirts themselves for that though.

but some are designed to be worn like that

with the 'logo' on the underside of the collar, so they have to be popped so everyone can see that the wearer spent £40 or more to advertise on their behalf

Leggings on anyone over a size ten. I do own a pair but ive never been further than tesco in them with a long top. In fact leggings should be banned with short tops altogether they may as well just walk round in there knickers might be less revealing.

My favourite although i know im in the minority, maxi dresses on short overweight people makes them look like dennis rousiss in my opinion

My son wears them and looks cute in them, he can carry off bright colours so usually has pink or other female colour ones. Jay wears them as well for everyday. There just an item of clothing to me.

I have owned dungarees, mini skirts, boob tubes, hipster jeans. I am well over a size 10, so-to that sod who said anyone over a size 10 shouldn't wear hipster jeans I say-Sod off! It's about how you wear them (i.e. with confidence) and what you wear them with (i.e. not wearing a midriff baring top no matter what your size, it's just not classy) I regularly still wear mini skirts and dresses, despite my fuller figure, and I get more compliments than insults! So ner!

I've never worn any of the original list (although I did buy shell suits for my kids in the 80s).

I'd like to nominate the puff-ball skirt to be added to the list - I can't think of a single person they looked good on and ironing them must have been a bitch!

I have to admit to shell suits, dungarees (light blue denim, stripey denim and mint cotton ones)

I also had an 'acid' suit in the late 80's, no perm here though so thats sort of a bonus

Never had a shell suit, or worn a spandex, and dungarees went out with Dexys Midnight Runners.

Had a few pairs of three-button waisters accompanied by the bigest pair of spoon shoes in existence though.

My one item of clothing I look back at from my younger days, and think wtf! A gold coloured knitted halter top i wore in Gran Canaria (without a bra). Cringe. You live and learn. Cant stand halter tops now. Who on earth invented them should be shot.

My confession is to a pair of Bottle Green chinos back in the early 90's (I think the only pair ever sold), my excuse being i am colour blind and they looked blue in the shop and as fancied the assistant in said retail establishment i was too embarrassed to confess my misdemeanour

I will admit to buying an "outfit" for a special occasion. It was an expensive outfit and i was about 20 and the shop let you pay it off weekly. It was a skirt and top in like a mucky green colour and made of shiny material i absolutly loved it. Think it was about £80 which when i was 20 was a lot of money. With hindsight it must of looked like a pair of curtains your grandma would of had

emo is short for emotional, started off in america with middle class suburban kids who were similar to goths/metal heads etc but less macho

lads wear make up, lots of stipes, write poetry

nowadays its just another style of dress which the young'uns adopt
