who when making a brew, If you don’t pour the kettle as soon as it’s boiled, you have to boil it again, even if it was only left for 10 seconds or so ?!

I am, that’s me, is it also you ?

I don’t know if there’s any truth that you need to catch it right on the boil, otherwise you don’t get the full flavour, might be more of an ocd thing

I always make sure there’s fresh water in the kettle too, something to do with the oxygen in the water makes a better brew

You should actually allow it to stop boiling, or leave it 30 seconds, or what you are actually doing it burning the tea.

Same with coffee.

Sincerely, someone who drinks neither....

Mold

An old adage says "Tea must be infused whilst the water is boiling"

Don't know how that came about, but may be due to having to boil the water to sterilise it

Kettles over boil. When you hear the bubbling it's at boiling but it continues few a few seconds after that.

You are removing the oxygen and nitrogen from the water each time you boil/over boil. Ruining the peak taste of your tea.

I never heat a kettle untill it boils.

When else in life do you heat a liquid to point it literally boils and say...

You know where I want this scolding hot water... In my mouth immediately.

Not after 10 seconds will still be at boiling point at that point. Plus adding boiling water burns your tealeaves so you get less taste.

Warm the cup with a little hot water first, you may pour in at 98 degrees but it will be low 80s by time the cup has absorbed heat, so warm the cup up,pour awat the little bit of water you used to do so then make a cup of tea...a hot cup

Yep

I'm an utter tea snob.

Fresh water each time.

My kettle heats from 70-100, depending on white, green, matcha, black, herbal or fruit tea!

I even have a little tea timer for correct brewing times.

NB. Never serve me Tetleys or PG Tips

Not a problem. You clearly know what you like and how you like it. Though such attention to detail is normally found with coffee lovers.

I’m such an amateur tea maker

I just boil the kettle then either make tea straight away or finish what I’m doing and just use the hot water from a kettle. It’s still hot for a long time after it’s boiled

I’m more of a coffee drinker though

This is where hot drinks take over our house! Husband has a cupboard for all his coffee paraphernalia; aeropress, vacuum pots, grinder, stovetops, milk frother etc...

I might have taken over an entire dresser though To be fair... it is part of my job! That's my excuse anyway! Can you have too much tea or too many tea cups?...

I think it was meant to be joke because she also did a video where she trolled British people by making "British scrambled eggs" which involved sugar, whipped cream, and cooking them in the microwave

And then when you've poured the water on... Top the kettle up again.. And for some weird reason boil it again....

I'm rarely fussy about my tea. I know how to do it properly but I only do it when I'm having (an approximation of) a proper high tea.

I have a variation on ice tea I quite enjoy.

I'm super fussy about coffee.

I'm with you on the Tetleys, it's English Breakfast as a minimum if I've got to use bags...but I much prefer loose leaf, especially when it comes to Earl Grey

I usually let it go slightly off the boil, even 20 seconds or so. I live in a hard water area so I let the tiny limescale particles settle back down to the bottom of the kettle before I pour!! After pouring,I stir gently, allow to stand for about 3 minutes then stir again. Add a drop of milk then sit back and enjoy!
