We've noticed a few pictures lately (mainly in Top Pics) that appear to be photoshoped. We don't mean a filter or merged with another, but full on airbrushed.

Would this put you off meeting them? What are they hiding?

"How can you tell?"

Shapes of objects in background being distorted or feathering of lines (for example hips being shaped, you can see they don't seem natural with the shadowing and curves) are just two examples we've seen recently.

I'm not keen on the airbrushed filters... Ends up like what you see on dating apps, the photos make them look 30 something, then in person it's like a 50 something. Nothing wrong with age but I like honesty !

I suppose it depends whether their objective is meeting or winning the hot pics coveted top spot!

They might fib about their age too, the scoundrels!

I love that example you'll find on social media of Yoda being through the beauty filter.

I (Mrs) dont use any filters, people have to take take us as we are.

I do breath in for a picture if I'm having a fat day, does that count as cheating

We would never use photoshop, all our pics are 100% filter free, hopefully nobody is put off by them as we’d hate to miss out

Why do you look at them so closely? Does it make YOU feel better knowing they're airbrushed or writing about it....?

No we wouldn't meet if a photo was obviously air brushed. I know I'm shallow but I'm interested in what a person looks like and if I think I'm going to meet the person from the picture and someone different turns up I'm going to be cross

Some just stand out, you don't have to look closely. Just curious as to others views on it for a site that is predominantly about meeting (when we're allowed).

If you feel they are hiding something and you arrange to meet them then more fool you lol. Go with your instincts.

If it's done well, and sensibly, you won't! But that is a very big IF!

Retouching is an art in itself. Photoshop (just one application, lots of others are available) is often abused by many, not just amateurs. There are many tell-tale signs to look for, although most are so bad they jump out at you.

Body distortion that look unnatural.

Skin tones without any contour to it.

Flat, toneless skin.

Messy, or non-existant blending.

Sloppy workmanship.

I could go on but you get the point.

Would bad retouching put me off? If it were so bad to be unrealistic, I'd wonder what they were hiding Might not put off totally, but wouldn't inspire confidence.

Strikes me lately that it's a bit like when the neighbours get a new fancy BMW and ppl instantly say "oh, but I bet it's just on lease/finance". It's still the same car sat on their drive and others are free this admire it. There's no need for jealousy or insecurity over someone else making a tasteful representation of themselves, which clearly some ppl approve of if it's on hot pics. They're not saying you must meet them or must fuck them, and chances are they don't post here to be met or fucked if they're on the top page, they're just posting pics, innit.... ....why not let them have their fun and let the fabbers have their wank material. Live and let live....

likewise OP.. i see nothing wrong with blurring backgrounds/tattoos etc etc.. but when you see photos that are obviously distorted (hips/boobs/bums or whatever) it does put you off like, as you know it's not the real deal.

But if it makes them happy, for whatever reason, let them craic on. you don't have to meet that particular person, and they aren't hurting anyone.

Completely get blurring tattoos and backgrounds, my ink is obvious to anyone who knows me. I just wonder what they hope to get from it. Let's call it a curiosity rather than complaint.

I don't mind what people do with their own photos. If they want to airbrush themselves then that's up to them.

If I was meeting I would want to meet the person in the photos, so extreme airbrushing would put me off as I don't want to be catfished.

You look at Fab with your daughter? Do I need to get Social Services involved here?
