so the guy who killed 3 and wounded others in a park in reading was released early from jail, yet another attack by someone released early, there seems to be a theme here, should people be let out early?

Until we can read clever ppl's minds it's always gonna happen. It's a really shit situation and even moreso for me because I grew up in Reading and my family are there, but ppl will always be crazy clever cunts and this one was gonna do this eventually and you can't keep ppl indefinitely unless you can pin something on them....

Can you change ppl's beliefs though, and if it was possible is that ethical...?

It's not really about whether early releases should stop altogether. The trick is to keep hold of the ones who pose a danger to society and to help people in prison to mend their wsts. It takes resources and government wil, and it's not an exact science. No matter how hard you try, you will never stop this from happening. You can only limit it.

I just don't think you can lock people up and throw away the key. It's not a society I want to live in.

Boston, Lincolnshire

Not only should they NOT get early release, they should be deported immediately on release.

Like for example, my last gf, I always thought she was lovely, I knew her inside out, but she still turned out psycho on me....

Not the same thing, but an example of human nature and how it's unpredictable....

very valid point, be interesting to know why he was in prison in the first place, and was he radicalised in prison?

There's a justice system in place to try and keep a civilised society.

Once we start implementing it as and how we see fit its a slippery slope? No system is perfect but its better than lynch mob mentality deploying justice without course?

Its a sad event, but were unpredictable creatures?

agreed, but this sort of thing does seem to becoming more common, look at the london attack, also a guy who was released early, i dont know what the answer is, but the system isnt working if these things can happen by people known to the police and mi5 etc

Maybe it shows the police and justice system are pretty good at identifying the little fuckers but we can't always prove intent for acts that have yet to happen.....

Agreed. And there just is not enough officers to keep track of them all.
