What's your favourite? Inspired by a recent thread.

I'm a fan of an angel cake... I also have a soft spot for anything with buttercream.

Mud cake. Think a cake that's like a brownie, but richer, with a very rich chocolate icing.

In a crowded field lemon drizzle just edges ahead of the rest for me... got to be super lemony though.

Black forest with lots of chocolate, cherries and cream. Best when there is only marginally enough cake to hold all the cream and cherries together.

I can't pick one!! I love most cakes and they can all be as good as each other. If it's full of buttercream it's even better.

My partner has ordered me a cake full of buttercream from Patesserie Valerie for my birthday and I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!

I have to make all my cake gluten free which can be a pain. Cheese cakes and dense cake seem to work the best (get the dust they call GF flour to rise is a nightmare)

Had a go a carrot cake with some success at the weekend as a birthday cake for my father.

But cheese cake are the beat so far

Any kind of chocolate cake will do me, the richer the better though. But I do like a good old treacle sponge - with treacle, not syrup.

I used to love buttercream. Then I made it myself and I can't get over just how much butter it is
