anyone else find this site very hit or miss you get days that everyone wants to chat and random messages then you get days nobody wants to chat at all

I doubt anybody gets what they want all the time from anything. What you describe is our experience but I wouldn't expect anything different.

Yes of course but that is just life. I tend to chat more on days off but if i have been working the previous night i am too busy and tired to engage in much chat.x
