I am playing Adelle for for the first time in years.

Back then I was going through one of the toughest times in my life.

It wasn't about a break up but I played the arse out of it. Funny looking back but playing the album now reminds of me tenacity, finding strength...stubbornness.

Do you have albums that take you back..way back?

True Blue by Madonna.

'open your heart to me, baby, I hold the lock and, you hold the key'.

Played endlessly on my Walkman on an eight hour holiday drive to Cornwall in 1988 ish. Other side of the tape was Appetite for Destruction. Glorious.

They still are - Heaton was one of the first to step up to the plate after lockdown and announce a free gig for NHS staff once it's all over

I have two. Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants and Victorialand by the Cocteau Twins. Victorialand gets played quite often but it's been years since I listened to Adam, that'll soon be remedied.

You can’t help but feel mellow when listening to this, and it contains one of my favourite Cat Stevens tracks, How Can I Tell You.

"The Jam - All Mod Cons

I think Sound Affects was a better album but All Mod Cons was my first introduction to The Jam and I was totally taken with their music from then on.

While I'm back, I'll throw in another:

The Clash - London Calling

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

The first album I bought was Deepest Purple - a Deep Purple greatest hits compilation, on cassette, in 1980.

A couple of years later I was living on college campus about 150 miles from home, but used to drive home every fortnight on a Friday night and return on the Sunday night. I had that album blasting out as it was a great driving album. On those journeys I also had Changes1Bowie and Changes2Bowie, Bat Out Of Hell and early Queen albums, too.

You can't find a better voice than Liz Fraser, could listen to the Cocteau Twins all day long.

There are loads of albums that take me back to a particular time and place but one that stands out is Diamond Life by Sade. Memories of my first serious relationship and us both losing our V plates in my bedroom at my parent’s house whilst everyone was out. Happy times.
