Is "my" Scipio Africanus.......

"your" Scipio Africanus?

I say "my" though I've never heard of him!

I say "yours" because it suits my theme!

Can two Scipio Africanus' ever become one?

Or should never the twain meet (if they are one)?

How many Scipio Africanus' are there anyway?

It's a nice name?

Should we value the dead?

How much?

PS Can a scholar please step forward to help me out here!

PPS A little Scipio Africanus' never hurt anyone....or did he?

The saga continues.....

Who is Scipio Africanus? I've only read about one in a book and he was Roman!

Apparently it was not unusual for UK slaves to be named after Romans.

One Roman called Skipio Africanus was a Roman General

Any scholars in here ?

He is an African slave who died age 18 and his ornate grave stone in England has been smashed in retaliation for Coulson's statue being dumped in the river.

Look at the article in the Independent online. That name was given to a young black slave who lived in Bristol and some colsonidiot vandalised his grave...

It looks like they gave him a decent burial though from the pictures

OK, so I'm going to read up on Bristol's Scipio.

I never knew he existed so I'll do a little study. Your thread has enlightened me.

He is from the powerful roman House Scipii. Many war campaigns in Northern Africa earning him the nickname Africanus. Punic wars. Carthaginian Wars. Etc

My new book will be entitled:

The Statue killings.

Saddam Hussein

Adolph Hitler

Joseph Stalin

Will all be rolling in their graves.

Those premier lovers of advertising.

To name but a few.

A pity I won't be able to get firsthand interviews.

Also that was a nice grave! The vandal is obviously not a lover of Art!

Now Couldsons Statue! Boy was that ugly!

For that reason alone it should have been removed...it was like having a statue of a raven overlooking a city! Lol

In fact the error was in removing it as that wasn't a statue to honour a man!

It looked like reclaimed tin painted black!

I think someone was pulling old Couldsons leg when they put that one up!

Unless? He was a man with a dark side?
