what's your go-to for picking yourself back up, and shaking it off?

regardless of what / who / why / how it is that you've come to feel a bit blue.. is there anything in particular that helps you quickly snap out of it, and get back to your usual FABulous selves?

usually for me, music helps.

but right now, it's isn't.

i know there are a few of these threads around and about, however i could use the cheering up, so have another

i hope everyone is okay.

I like to write. Not specifically about what gets me down, just, anything really. A process of anything. I think the action helps me, by pen or by keyboard or by phone.

Also this cheered me right up, thanks OP

Dragging myself off out for a walk or drive.

Hot bath, tunes, candles.

Baking something lovely.

Making plans/writing things down.

Some days I just don't want to leave the house or chat to anyone so a bit of self care is vital. Fresh jarmies, cuddles with my cat and some some easy viewing telly makes me feel a little better x

Music..usually helps but being housebound limits how effective this is. I prefer long walks alone. Sadly not really an option.

Gym..again not an option currently. Would really love to vent on a punch bag or pound some miles on a treadmill

The sea. Can't get there till public transport is a lot less risky.

So instead I've opted for a girlie night in the garden with besties. Just waiting for us all to be free on a dry night and hopefully that will be at least a little effective on my current mood

Sometimes listening to music though I think I often pick a mood emphasiser rather than changer, often yoga, being outside, talking with a friend can be such a balm. Singing with my friends. Reading.

Leg shaking orgasms seem to help me.

Second to that, I try to set myself manageable goals, even boring ones, like cleaning the oven or pairing up the odd socks. It makes me feel better knowing I’ve achieved somethin productive, however small it is.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

It varies :

I listen to or play some music.

Get lost in a hobby for a bit.

Go for a walk or do some other exercise.

Play with pets.

Log on here.

I tend to find it ruins my focus until I sort it so it can take me a while to find the right distraction whilst my mood sorts itself out.

I go to the beach. Sometimes when I'm there I'll write or read or just watch the waves.

Sometimes I'll have a good cry to try and get rid of all my feelings

Being behind a locked door with a bath full of warm water and essential oils, relaxing music up loud so I can cry undetected.

Or if I can't get into the bathroom and nice walk in the woods on my own.

Depending on the depth of mood, it can be anything from taking a step back, switching off, a joke / interaction with a mate, going for a quiet walk (rare) or drawing. Lately the only thing that works is sleep, switch off and let the day slip by

SE London

It depends, a walk in the park or like now a few minutes enjoying the sunshine in the garden helps.

But music is good to brighten me up as well. I have strange taste here: Mo-town, classic 60/70s soul and rock and strangely Baroque trumpet and organ concertos.

If I am really feeling blue, I get myself a small drink, put on the headphones and listen to the blues of BB King or Eric Clapton. And then the blue mood becomes a blues mood and I am feeling more relaxed and less alone
