Growing up was there any benign Characters on TV, whether cartoon, fictional, non fictional that freaked you out or give you the creeps, even though they weren’t supposed to be creepy. I always had an Irrational dislike of Scrappy Doo, thought he was just a little twat ?!

Another one: Remember the classic kids TV show Words And Pictures?

There was a very badly animated, weird ghost like character that used to feature in it which was superimposed against the live presenters.

I can’t remember it’s name sadly but do recall that it used to unsettle me somewhat.....

As was that daft music that accompanied his entrance during the title sequence.

‘Godzilla......and Godzuuuuuuuukkkkiiiiii’

And another thing; even though he was a fraction of the size of the big guy, how did Godzuki not sink that ship that he and the humans sailed around on? He must have weighed at least ten tons.

Floella Benjamin. There was something manic about her that gave me nightmares.

Noel Edmonds was another one, I never liked him from multicolour swap shop and I didn't like him any better on house party. I think he reminded me of a very shouty neighbour we had when I was a toddler, and that's initially why he scared me.

Somewhere In The Ether…

Here’s another one: Gordon from Thomas The Tank Engine.

He was a stern looking brute and I didn’t like the cross faces he used to pull (which he did fairly frequently)

Thomas himself, whilst not scary, did nonetheless cause me some not inconsiderable upset once when he went too fast for poor old Annie and Clarabel - resulting in a major derailment (and probable train service cancellations for the rest of the day!)
