There's been another outbreak at a wet market in China. How are these places allowed to stay open in the current climate?

I believe it's a complicated balance. Respect for traditional practices, regulation versus practices going underground, and the way in which China manages itself given its evolving political identity at home and abroad.

Yeah same, wholesale. And it sounds like corona virus. So not another jumping species virus.

No new virus, just another outbreak of Corona at a WHOLESALE market in China. NO wet market or new virus. Looks like a bit of over-eager news reporting.

I suspect that the best path forward here is going to have to be quite cautious. We need to find an appropriate balance between holding China accountable for its actions (not just in relation to Covid-19, other issues such as ongoing developments in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other human rights abuses); and having them be (relatively) forthcoming with data that will help us combat Covid-19 (and other SARS related Corona viruses that the bats in Chinese caves happen to have a lot of). How do we find a middle ground here?

I think jumping on Chinese practices (because we in the west - including me, I won't lie - happen to find them disgusting, and there was a hypothesis months ago that that's where Covid-19 came from) is counterproductive in the extreme.
