Just around the corner

No idea. I’ve just kept running solo to keep myself fit/busy.

Not for a long time, unfortunately.

I've just seen a post by Run Wales in how they're proposing to manage events.

Everyone submits an estimated finish time, you are then allocated a start time and position.

You must remain in your vehicle until start time, proceed to the start line maintaining a 2m distance from the person in front

Start intervals of 2 seconds.

You may only pass a runner in front of you, only when it is safe to do so and keep a distance of 2m.

When you cross the Finish line you must proceed directly to the "medal table" or return to your vehicle.

No socialising, or celebrating with other runners.

Can you imagine the normal Park Run funnels and scanning of bar codes?

It's going to be crap

There's ongoing discussions for virtual park runs, and you can submit times via an approved app

Just got home from a solo 5km time trial, boring as shit on your own.

There's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't, we're shortly allowed be in Primark together. Alas, there's no getting away from the nonsensical drudgery that is 2020.

At the start of my local PR there's 300 odd people milling together in a fairly small area, so social distancing is a non starter

And there are narrow sections on the course which makes passing a close contact sport

Until people can accept close physical proximity, then it's going to be difficult to manage

I understand. My opinion on the subject is probably not worth mentioning on this site as I fear I'll be lynched. But unless everyone plans to stay inside forever, things need to start returning to normal.

I'd bet money (not all of it, mind) that a vaccine will never exist.

To get back to topic...cardio is great for lowering your risk of mortality should you contract a virus. Viva la ParkRun!

Ellon

I’m a run director at our local parkrun.

New Zealand are hoping to start 4 July, as all their restrictions have been lifted. Realistically there is no date in mind for UK yet. We have been told that once it’s looks like we can re-start, the start dates for different parkruns will be staggered. But it all depends on how and when lockdown is lifted
