Ok this is a bit maudlin so im apologising at the start,I just find it an interesting topic

Ive just read that Jade is getting christened next week along with her boys,

Now im not a religious person I regard myself as more spiritual but faced with what Jade is facing at an age where she has'nt had a chance to live a full and long life would any of us that are not religious change our views as some sort of bargaining with God?

At the end of life do we all want peace,forgiveness and a place in heaven? even if we hav'nt strictly believed throughout our life?

Its amazing how many find God on the battlefield.It comes with facing death and there are many sorts of battlefields in life.We all find ourselves on at least one.

God bless Jade,she's a very brave girl and if she can milk the media for the future of her kids then good for her.

I lost a good friend to motor neurones a few years back and in the last few months of his life he spoke at length to a priest. It just gave him peace of mind I guess and it helped make his last few months more bearable.

I would have been happy with him talking to a one legged ginger dwarf if it made him happy.

its entirely up to her ....personally i think the whole sky jockey thing was set up to control us and also to help us face the fact we are mortal ....well we are ...get over it ..enjoy life while you can

I'm not religious but from an early age my Nan would go on and on and on about being christened. In her eyes (she was religious) if you aren't christened you cant be buried in consecrated ground and therefore your soul would be in torment and roam the earth for eternity.

Now I'm not sure about that as I am what is termed agnostic I think (if that means prove it to me first) but I had my girls Christened as I couldnt bear the thought they would be in torment if anything happened to them.

If Jade is looking for peace and she can get it from being Christened its not a bad thing.

What a total mind fuck that is! All I'd have to say to someone who used that tack on me would be, "Thank you, how very fucking Christian of you!"

Nobody can say for sure if there is a God or not, who knows, there could be an omnipotent being that created everything but I guess for someone facing Jade's very short future I guess it doesn't hurt to hedge one's bets.

...and if she can cream a bit more cash for her boys as a result of it then fair play to her.

Ermmmmm telling my Nan she very fucking Christian aged 7, 8, 9 etc wasnt allowed.

It did however make me wary of religion so it shot her in the foot if she wanted me to go to Church - the Christening however never left me and had more to do with tormented souls which equalled not at peace in death to me which as we dont know what exists after death I wouldnt take the chance to condemn anyone expecially my children to it.

Im more of the Darwin theory as it has some fins then legs lol

I was christened as a baby but I hav'nt had my children christened,they both know that if they choose to be christened now then im more than happy to arrange it for them,I wanted it to be their choice

You can just imagine how the institution of marriage came about can't you:

circa.2000 years ago:

Two men go up before the local judge/elder/priest with a complaint about who has a particular right to a woman they both like.

The judge listens to both plaintiffs who argue passionately why the woman belongs to him. The judge is facing a dilemma, which man does he give her to?

He turns to one of them and says, "have you slept with this woman?"

He says, "No", but he knows he's protecting her as she'd be branded a harlot. He asks the same of the other man, who replies "yes", the girl counter argues with "no he hasn't slpet with me," but she is silenced, her views don't count, not in early chritian society.

The judge then asks how much each man is willing to pay the girl's family in dowry. The man that hadn't slept with her can pay more than the man that had. Which of them gets the girl?

The girl's father is consulted.

He looks at both men and realises that the one who can pay more is from a better family and his only daughter needs to marry well to ensure ALL the family continues to thirve. It's a no brainer, he chooses the man who can pay more. Job done, the girl is handed over.

Now, the judge thinks, "we really can't be doing with all this bollocks in the future, we need a system!"

He consults with the church and they come up with a formula.

If a man and a woman pledge themselves to each other, with the blessing of the father of the girl then they shall be betrothed and all other claims upon the woman are null and void. There must follow a ceremony that constructs a legal bond between the two families that only death can break (or if the man dont want her anymore at some point in the future).

And then they gave it a name: Marriage.

Did it have anything to do with God?

Nope, diddlysquat. God didn't even go to the very first wedding and there is no mention of Adam & Eve ever getting married.

i guess at some point in our lives,and jades right now..we all must wonder if there is something or someone looking down on us,and we find ourselves open to the fact that there is a glimmer of hope in the belief..

there is no harm in looking to do the things you feel you should in your last moments you have,we all might need to feel that we have done our best for whatever reason if we was faced with the same things..

i was christened at the age of 11,and ive no real idea why or what difference it made,it certainly didnt affect me or my views toward god,i,m not religious but i am open to spirituality and think that the belief in something else ie god,is something we can use as a crutch in times of need..whether it helps or not is not for me to say..but if it helps to guide you or give you the lift you require then its all good..

jades just needing that crutch right now i think..

some might say that shes been delt this hand after all the bad press from big brother with shilpa shetty..

who knows how things work or wether we get our just deserts for our life we lead now..

good karma...bad karma..anyone find themselves believing in it as they have got a little older???

I do beleive in Karma but I find it hard to believe that Jades illness has anything to do with what happened in Big Brother between her and Shilpa Shetty,I think she was more a victim of very clever editing by the people who put her in there to create some drama

She was'nt the only one involved yet the others are walking around fit and healthy so it does'nt make sense when you look at it like that

i agree with you there wholeheartedly,she did get the sharp end of the stick as she is a vulnerable girl.ever since day one of being in the lime light shes put her size 9's in the proverbial dog shit lol.i,m not bigging her up or on a mission to make jade a hero..i just can relate to her turning to god in her last momens..i think its only natural!

its just that some things make you wonder..just because we cant see things in the flesh,does that make them any the less real?

i,ve not really been in here befor to be honest,i dont have alot to say as you can tell lol

i hope they dont say it too me as they,ll get a bit of a mouthfull,

okay got to say i wasnt the hugest jade goody fan in the world, but the way she is handling this putting herelf in the public eye, is not only educating people, its encouraging people to get checked and i truly belive jade will save lives, then when you look at her motives, to make as much money for her boys as possible for when shes gone, as well as educating people while going through the most amazingly traumatic time not to mention painfull, is truly awesome, happy to say i was wrong, and if she getscomfort from god buddah or kermit the fucking frog, good on her

When travelling in Nepal and India I discovered that all the bus drivers had every possible religious symbol you could imagine - buddhas, ohms, crucifixes, menorah, vishnu etc so they had all bases covered when they took the inevitable wrong turn off the next 6,000ft precipice. Religion is a sort of after life insurance so why not get covered - however I think we are all affected by religion no matter how much we may try to avoid it. As far as Jade goes we think karma has a lot to do with her current predicament.

I'm not religious either, but did find it strange a few months back when I nearly lost my eyesight. Images of Jesus kept popping into my mind. I think it was a survival instant, my brain wanted to create hope. I can understand how religion provides some with faith. Nobody can predict how they would cope with drastic experiences.

I would have thought the best life insurance to stop yourself taking a wrong turn and driving off a precipice is awareness, rather than a mind clouding belief in some imaginary sugar daddy or other.

the point is being that,whatever you feel helps then go for it..who,s to say its not right or wether beieving in a higher being is poppycock..

were all very aware of driving our cars safely or making sure we look before we leap..but its not always enough..you never know whats around the corner.

if one day heaven forbid(pardon the pun)you or i should ever find ourselves faced with a traumatic life changing experience then i,m sure both of us will be doing all we can to make things that little bit more bareable..
