I'm shit at the dentist, so now he always plays "it's Chico time!" on the stereo and dances with the hygienist to calm me down.... ....true story....

I'm suffering from anxiety terribly at the moment. I'm having palpations, blurry vision and dizziness attacks.

Have you tried guided meditation? Can find plenty on you tube.

Count backwards slowly from 100, really focus on the counting and when you're at 1, start again from 100. It'll be over before you know it - good luck

It won't be anything like as bad as you are imagining

This. I went for a tooth out in January, first time, the anticipation and anxiety were way way worse than the reality which was surprisingly quick and painless.

I usually keep busy before it's time to leave the house and then talk myself down from the worse case scenario.

I've got a major phobia of the dentist what ever you do don't drink as hangover will kill you

The positive thing is that's when it's done you will be pain free in a couple of days

Focus on the outcome of the short visit. Imagine walking around pain free, with your tooth fixed and no longer annoying you.

OP.

I have always had this problem, for years. But one dentist came up with a cure, which works for me.

Do you have a portable CD Player or MP3 Unit with your fave tracks?

Take it with you, with headphones, as medical studies over the past 20-30 years have proved 'noise kills pain'.

It works for me, as I close my eyes, with my headphones in, leaving my dentist to get on with their work. If they want to speak to me, they know just to tap my arm, and I pause the music.

If it's needles you don't like, ask for gum numbing gel to rub into the injection site - works wonders.

During any treatment, if you think you are feeling pain, just increase the volume on your music.

Dentist are extreamly good now days and relatively pain free. Which will be no comparison to the pain that can evolve through not having treatment.

Listen to some relaxing music clear your mind.

Think positive, think of things that make happy memorable experience in your life.

This should ease the anxiety.

If nothing else they will sort you out with decent pain relief until they can sort it.

Tell them you are anxious, they will understand, you will not be the first.

Good luck
