I only ever have whole meal in the house! You might be up before me though so you might need to wait if you want breakfast in bed

Very thin bread, tan but not brown, eaten while hot enough to still be crunchy. Bit of pate or meat paste just melting into it.

Diffrent toppings require diffrent toast..

A nice Malted bloomer nerds to be lightly toasted, spread with butter and topped with sliced banana and a wee drizzle of honey.

Extra thick white bread needs to be golden with butter and strawberry jam.

If I am having beans I like my toast a bit more well done.

Fruit toast, barely warm with lots of butter

I work with a guy who told me he used to have a toast sandwich when he was a skint student. Not a toasted sandwich, but a slice of toast between two buttered slices of untoasted bread.

After staying over at a mates the Dad in the morning asked did we want our toast for breakfast cold or warm..... my reply "hot please"....

But to answer the original question, lightly toasted with plenty of butter.... (sometimes with jam or marmalade but happy without)
