Nr Chester

In my eyes this guy was a an absolute legend. Personally his business regarding the well documented break up I'll not add to. I just find it horrible to still see him in his emotional state being used to sell fucking England shirts for the manufacturer Umbro. Ultimately i'd imagine he needs the cash and his advisors and himself agree to run with it but can't help but think the company are playing on his illness to promote their products.

Thoughts please.

He needs the cash and he is a legend. Pepsi do it, Nike do it, Adidas do it. The difference is they usually use current stars. I think him getting emotional was something they just ran with and lets be honest, it's not the first time Gazza's been emotional about England.

Do we have the same sympathies toward non famous alcoholic suicidal wrecks or do we just keep away from them ?

Do the unknown ones get this opportunity to make money after 'messing' up a 'great' lifestyle ?

What makes us so sanctimonious about football players ?

I value my bin man more.

It's sad whoever suffers but these people are only legends cos they were good at sport. They are not self sacrificing in any way at all and if they were born with the talent then we don't require to honour them in any way at all.

pity like aye he spent loads of money been ripped off by agents hangers on ect blah blah but money he gave away and things he has done for charity is way n beyond , have played in a charity match with this fella ,and one of my works opened opened the door to him on xmas day for him to bring in a signed footy shirt for his terminal young kid , was done thru a local fella not a charity at the time to.

Good to see him doing charity work and not just for the publicity like a lot of celebs do.

there is a man in his 70s who comes around our work and a lot of others firms with a trailer collecting pop bottles that he cashes in and donates the money to charities he always sends copies of the thanks letters he recieves and he averages £1500 per month which is a lot of bottles and a lot of work.

Now that man gets my respect

Again agree with all what's said made me see it in another light. He is an emotional wreck. One can only hope for his family and children's asked that he continues his battle against addiction successfully.

Kinda reminds me of the preforming monkey you used to see abroad on the beaches having pictures taken.....the guy had so much talent, but his mental health has deteriorated quickly, but if he can make a buck ...let him.

For Gers fans and English fans he was magnificent for years. He also won the hearts whilst in Italy at Lazio. Throughout his career he gave us something special. A football fan, working class hero of course his issues which resulted in intense media coverage cast a cloud over him. Nothing condones violence towards a lady no matter how much if any provocation.

I know paul very well,grew up with him and jimmy,its sad too see him this way,paul has his own ways of doing things some bad ,some good,some catastrophic,but a sober gazza is one of the nicest guys you could meet,do anything for anyone kinda guy, his charity work is still endless and whilst out on night's out with him, elderly folk never ever paid for a drink as paul always stuck money behind which ever bar or club we were in.He has his faults and issues,but dont we all,Paul was doing really really well but the death of Sir bobby really knocked him back , Just wish i could have my old mate back to his old self

It's about second chances for me. Whether you're famous or not, we all need a second chance to try for better life. I see in Gazza a man who knows he f**ked up and who knows he's lucky to be alive.

It's easy to come down on someone famous because they're put out there because of who they are. Yes, there are heroes out there in the real world but I'm sure they're not all saints. We're all human after all.

i think its quite clear to see that the amount of alcohiol he has consumed over the years has unfortnately addled his brain ...its a very common trait amongst alcoholics ( i have one very close to me in my life ).

in fact my alcoholic friend knows paul and re iterates hes the most lovely guy whrn hes sober ........good luck to paul if he can earn few bob to make his life easier ..its hard to watch tho !
