Sherwood Forest

Stewing meat and chips on boxing day (started with my nanna then my mum) I always seem to enjoy it though

My mum and I meet once a week for breakfast and a swim. I miss that just now.

And at Christmas we all take turns to make part of the Christmas dinner. I was on dessert last year

We have loads of traditions over christmas. My mum's family is huge so there are a lot of people to see and lots of gatherings to attend. I love it, but by the time the 28th of December rolls around I'm ready to not see any of them for a while.

One of my dearest friends always takes me out for a meal on the anniversary of my dad's death where we talk about him and toast his memory.

We have a bottle of dodgy amaretto one of my cousins bought back from Spain in the 90s. He gifted it to one of my aunties at Christmas, and she regifted it to another cousin the following year without even taking the original gift tag off.

It's now a tradition that it gets gifted from cousin to cousin and we just add more tags round the neck of the bottle. It's become a joke to guess which cousin will end up with it each year.

The aunty who started it died 8 years ago, but we still do it with affection for her.
