The Page 3 Girl .

Although formally retired in 2015 , it is 50 years since the first Page 3 girl appeared.

So my question is , was it harmless fun or demeaning to women ??

If you've ever had to sit on a train with your 7 year old kid and try to explain to her why the man opposite is looking at a picture of a lady with no top on, and when I say looking I mean perving and when I say perving I mean making a big point of looking at the picture and then looking at us then it might colour your opinion as to whether it's "harmless fun".

I think it's context, does it bother me that some women make a career from showing their boobs off hell no, as long as it's their choice. However, should it have been in a newspaper no. It normalised the sexualisation of breasts, which in my opinion has made it more difficult for women to breastfeed in public for example.

Some women complain that it’s unfair that men can go topless but women can’t. I wonder if having a top less woman on page 3 and a topless man on page 7 have that equality so desired?
