I am so disappointed by Dyson lately the newer models don't have the power the older models had.

Which would you choose for both hard floor as well as carpet, cordless and for pet hair Shark or Dyson?

Shark every time, all my dysons have been a disappointment....which coincidentally makes me laugh when I see veris that says “sucks like a Dyson” I’m thinking well they must be bloody disappointed then

We had the same issue with our Dyson so went for the shark. Got the dog hair attachment thrown in which is just as well as it didn't work picking up our dogs hair when I used it in the car.

Neither...if it was a big area of carpet....if I could find one still in good working order either the old hoover junior or a kirby for uprights...but modern alternatives a Henry...they can take all you throw at them...although the Henry isn't the best for pet hairs on carpets..as no rotary brush but keep the cloth filter clean and change the bags doesnt loose suction..

Yes. In the interests of equality we are now using

Licks like an Electrolux. Equality and Dyson's sponsorship has ended.

One day they'll update them to appeal to a younger generation. Henry and Hetty will become Kyle and Lily-May.

My Hetty looks cute but is a rubbish vacuum and is very heavy.

My mate gave me her VAX and that is brilliant on pet hair, it virtually sucks the pattern off the carpet

Henrys and Hoovers don't have much suction.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

For me if it's for carpet it should have a rotating brush bar, if it doesn't then it won't pick everything up.

Hard floors I'm not sure it makes much difference between any of the non brush bar types of vacuum cleaners (as long as filters are clear).

I read some time ago that new corded vacuum cleaners have to be below a certain watts for energy efficiency.

I haven't used a cordless vacuum since one of the first dirty busters (the ones they showed picking up crumbs on a kitchen worktop then in a car (very hygienic))

My house has a built-in vacuum system - you just plug in the applicable hose and attachment to the wall sockets. I use it on the "25%" setting and it works faultlessly. I am afraid to try it on a higher setting in case I lose a cat

The Town by The Cross

Once upon a Dyson in a land of hair and dust.

A swinger banged a sleazy mare and slapped her round the bust.

She leapt up from his carpet with pet hairs up her crack,

She dusted crumbs from off their bums and said she wasn't coming back

The swinger looked at his jizzy cock and picked off bits of fluff

With no time to waste he made forth haste

To Curry's in the buff!

He bought a strong silent sucker which he called his baby shark

Now he sits alone with a great big bone being sucked off in the dark.

I've been in the electrical appliance trade for years & I'd have said Numatic Henry,we had two,the newer one had less power & suction than the 25 year old one. If money is no object Miele for cylinder type & Sebo for upright.

Gtech air ram, I know its expensive but to me worth every penny and wouldn't hesitate to replace if it broke tomorrow. Great customer service when I had a problem, replacement part free and sent next day. Does hard floor and carpet no problems, no cord. I also got the handheld one and can do the stairs in 2 minutes.

They do a pet version for people with pets, it's just got more power, it almost pulls you across the room my auntie has one.

Can't beat a Kirby, ours even has attachments to put down the drains and suck em through when they get blocked and loads of other attachments that other vacs just don't have. Only the missus could suck or blow harder but it's bloody close.
