To say I received a call earlier to say a very close family member had passed away. An amazing woman who I admired and respected dearly. Not seen her in her care home for 12 weeks and now with government restrictions the funeral will be challenging as to the number of people allowed to attend and we have a very large family and not all will be able to go. Has anyone else on here experienced this at this difficult time?

Deepest darkest Peru

Firstly sorry to read this and my thoughts are with you and your family.

My aunt passed away from Covid middle of April and it was her funeral two weeks ago at our local crematorium. We were given a link and password for a podcast to watch service on our phones. Initially her sons were told 8 people could go in in chapel but on the day the undertaker allowed 21 of us inside, alternate pews and two to a pew. Outside in the garden remembrance more people were allowed as long as 2 metres apart. It was all very surreal but very thankful I could say goodbye xx

Thanks cookie. I knew you could get to watch it online. Wasn't sure about the cemetery. As she was to be buried with her husband or we hope that's still the case

Sorry to hear of your loss, I’ve had an online funeral which was actually incredibly moving. We’re saving a proper celebration of his life for when we can all meet up again. Hope you’re ok, my condolences.

Thanks. Yes I'm ok just a bit shocked really as it wasn't expected. Xx

I am so sorry for your loss.

Personally I haven't been to a funeral or thankfully lost anybody since lockdown.

However a friend of mine lost her dad to coronavirus when they were only allowed 5 people at the funeral.

I know it's not the same but they live streamed it to the rest of their family and friends who couldn't attend.

I know it's not the same as actually being there but one of my friends who watched the stream said it was good to feel they were somehow part of it.

Deepest sympathy to you and yes my aunty passed away while in hospital a few weeks back, we last saw her on her 70th birthday beginning of March but I was lucky enough to be included in the 10 for the funeral, as we couldn’t visit at the hospital though I must admit it doesn’t seem real.

Now restrictions have been lifted, you may be able to more people at the burial.

If she is being buried it may be possible to have a service outside which means a lot more people could attend.

Not ideal but might be something worth looking into. X

Sorry for your loss.

We had my brother's funeral yesterday. We were still only allowed 10 and like people have said we had a live link for people to watch. People also lined the street when we left the house.

For lots of us we will have to celebrate lives of our lost ones when we can in the coming months.

Thank you everyone. Suppose we'll found out more from the funeral directors
