"Just off to replace yet another snapped spoke on my hybrid bike. That’s six in total this year. I’ve never snapped one before on any other bike. Are they weaker or have I put on weight? " I've often had this problem, I ended up having one set of wheels pre-built with heavier gauge spokes. Modern bikes often have "lightweight" wheels with less spokes, but I try to buy better wheels at the first opportunity. Cal

"Get some decent triple butted spokes. All depends on the rims being a good brand as well. Hand made wheels are always better than machine ones. Wouldn't let a Halfords bike fitter do them" You had me at triple butted

"What make of wheels are they? I cycle 000s of miles a year and have never had a broken spoke A fair few punctures though " I had recurring issues with some Raleigh branded 105-Open Pros. You'd expect them to be solid training/commuting wheels, but they were continually breaking drive side, until I had the wheel re-laced with heavier gauge spokes... no issues since. Cal

"What make of wheels are they? I cycle 000s of miles a year and have never had a broken spoke A fair few punctures though " They are Maddox DC 3.0. 32 hole. Fitted to a 2019 Cannondale Quick CX 2. I’ve fitted the Schwalbe Marathon tyres. I guess just too much shock with my weight when riding off road.
