I have become frustrated with both lockdown and my personal health so i have begun a weight loss schedule and i am looking to start running again. There are so many apps out there to use for recording progress / inspiration, i just don't know which one to use! I want a couch to 5k type one, but again there are plenty out there and not sure which to pick! I don't want to subscribe and pay for one ideally. Has anyone recently started a running journey? If so, which app did you go for and why?

All couch to 5km plans are identical. Any of them are fine

I really enjoyed Zombies, Run! when I could consistently run outdoors. Though that's a bit different from a ramping up one. But it's fun to have some story while running, I felt

I downloaded the BBC couch to 5k and loved it. U got to choose various bbc hosts as coaches. I chose Michael Johnson. I don't think I could have accomplished running 5k without the app. Strongly recommend

Use any couch to 5k (the BBC one is fine) and combine with Strava, which also maps your walks / runs and is free

Yeah the BBC one is decent. Along with Strava or runkeeper to log you times and distances.

So the BBC one accompanied by Strava may be the way forward then!

"Just remember Strava can be used for stalking. "

Quite terrifyingly so. I like flypast for races and group runs but it is quite scary what you can find with it.

Zombies, Run!

I've tried a few and still use Runtastic (Adidas), but for fun I started using this app

It's got most of the features of the regular apps, but also introduces the cinceot of missions, gathering supplies, all the whilst being chased by zombies

The missions are really good and have great storylines and voice over acting

Plus you get training schedules for 5k, 10k up to marathon distances for beginners and experienced runners too

I use STRAVA but only the free version works for what i need so far. Not heard of it being used for stalking mind lol
