How did you learn about sex and puberty?

Did your parents sit you down to have 'the' talk

Was it from school ed or was it all a bit of a surprise?

Worthing

Mum sat down and told me. It was very informative! Apparantly I asked the question why did men not have babies?

A town near you perhaps

School friends, porn mags that the boys sneaked into school and experiences.

Hefty Hideaway

My sister is 4 years older so she was my main source. The playground was a great source of learning although not much of it was fact based. School and parents - basically taught about periods and abstinence. Didn't really tell us what we should abstain from though

An older girl told me about it because she had just had sex education at school, I was absolutely disgusted and said my mum and dad would not do something like that, so she told me I was adopted lol

On a mooch

It was definitely a surprise and wondering what was going on when first attempted.

Parents didn’t say a word. The only time it ever came up was when my dad found my tampax and went ballistic, until my mum calmed him down and explained we could use them without having had sex.

As for school all books had relevant pages removed (mixed boarding school). I can’t honestly ever remember talking about it either

I was so naive that on my first day at a mixed boarding school, I hit the school bully’s dick with a ruler as I thought it was a rat escaped from the cage but no one ever tried picking on Shortie again

My parents had a talk and got me a book but tried to stop me reading all of it as it was very detailed and a bit beyond my age...I found where it was hidden and read it multiple times through. I was then the font of all knowledge at school

Wirral

Visit to a reference library, copy of Claire Rayner's People in Love.

It was not designed for a curious primary school kid

My mum gave me a facts of life book printed by some religious institution. It took about another 5 or 6 years before I realised there was pleasure involved

There and to the left a bit

School ed, old black and white footage, my only memory of it being William Woolard (of Tomorrow's World fame - at least I think it was him) using a rubber band round his bunched fingers to demonstrate how a vagina could stretch

I (her) learned from finding porn mags at home and down the woods, from naughty films not full on porn, school friends.

I did have an awkward moment when at 15 I walked into the living room to find my gran watching porn. Thankfully she wasn't playing with herself but was sat there intently watching german porn... a young woman being fucked on a swing in a barn ... and my gran told me to sit down and watch it with her. I suppose that was her way of educating me.

Being the horny teen I was I probably went off upstairs and then fucked myself with a hairbrush handle

Makes you wonder if porn mags are still discarded in the woods, seemed like every wood had some back in the day, I guess the internet has put paid to that

We had a fantastic cartoon sex ed book at home about "when a man feels loving towards a woman his penis with a 'fro becomes hard and he puts it in her baby pocket" etc....

Came in dead handy in the concrete play tunnels at school....

Manchester (she/her)

My parents gave me an age appropriate book on human anatomy when I was six or seven and banned me from taking it to school because of the male and female reproductive organs pages.

Mum gave me a very half hearted and unsympathetic lesson on periods when it started.

Some whacky shame based sex ed then changed schools and fact based gross diagrams.

here and there

Mostly friends and porn mags. But my mum did say to me one day After I came home one night with mud on the knees of my jeans “I don’t care what you get up to, just use protection” wise words from a wise lady.

My mum took great joy in telling me all about it - warts and all in great detail. The joys of having a mum who works in medicine.

I learnt at school, and remember passing out with the crappy video in the staff room explaining about periods.. hahaha

I was about 10 at the time, and we are talking about the 80s when things were very less open..

Oh jeebus! Being raised by my single Dad, he got my Aunty in to have that 'chat' along with the period conversation...

I was traumatised.... You mean THIS happens once a month because of THAT!

And things go in what where when and why when you have a boyfriend!

I was 11 and cried, so upset, I did not need too or want to know
