There and to the left a bit

Just seen this on the BBC - and thoroughly deserved and how wonderful to see it too after all he has done, not only in these past few months, but in the past too - an example to us all anda true national treasure

I'm thrilled for him but is it wrong that the first thing I thought was that it was for publicity for the PM who, otherwise, is getting a bashing in the press. I hate that my suspiciousness of the government took the shine off a fabulous achievement.

it is going to be part of the queens birthday honours list.... but i am assuming this one was fast-tracked because of what he did and being nominated by the PM himself......

otherwise normal speed process would be the new years honours list... and obviously with him being 100, time is of the essence...

I think you have a point but sometimes you have to try and look past the politics and appreciate the fact that someone deserving is being recognised for all that he has done

Great news.

He deserves more.

I said in another thread that this would happen. The local bus company near his has his name written on the front of the bus.

Marston Moretaine, have painted the post box blue in his honour; with a golden roundel to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Where Captain Tom leads, others follow!

Will he do a lap of honour around the Queen's garden? I do hope so

Chapeau Tom!

Maybe the guy who swam round the UK can get knighted too, oh wait he didn't raise 40 million, maybe if he was 99 and swam round uk he would be knighted, think that is a fucking immense achievement to actually swim round the coastline of Britain, not even a thank you off the queen
