Torquay

Think I'd enjoy it, will probably have a couple of lessons first but I'm wondering about the merits of the inflatable boards versus the solid ones, they seem a fair bit cheaper and would be easier to store and carry down to the beach

I'm a sup' er

I have a 10 foot hard one

I recommend an inflatable

I recommend estuaries and lakes

I had a solid board because I can surf and I have a van

Inflatable are fantastic they also are a more comfortable ride and so portable

You would use it

Rule of thumb if you have to ask inflatable is correct

I call it the zen of water sports

If ,if you have spare cash buy a carbon paddle

Enjoy perfect for blistering hot no wind days x

Try andre at torquay surf and paddle

Beyond that pool harbour is perfect

I could teach you but a hint

It's all in the paddle action you can paddle from one side infinitely

I practice sup yoga too

I’d like to give it a go but i’m probably too hefty for it. I’ll pop it on my bucket list.

Looking to have a few sessions on a local estuary, before getting a board.

Is it as easy as it looks, should I expect to get wet

Not in the summer. I would recommend a buoyancy aid

We have SUP's.

Ours are touring boards, longer and wider so they are good for novice users for stability.

My board is 11'8 and my boyfriend's is 12'6". As mine is shorter it turns quicker than his, but mine is 2" thinner in width and so is less stable in the water.

We have wetsuits, they are not essential but I now wouldn't be without it.

Lessons are a good idea, we have friends with boards who took us out. Plus we watched tutorials on YouTube.

Go for it OP

It depends what your sense of balance is like. It's quite relaxing when you get into it.

Always expect to get wet

I love paddle boarding. I use an inflatable board, and last year upgraded my 10'6" board for a 13'2" which is great!

C's board is very quick and a lot more agile than mine. On the other hand mine is very stable and once past the surf Im happy on a pretty choppy sea (not stood up though in those conditions yet)

Mr"

I forgot to mention our boards are inflatable.

When in the bags they are still heavy with the pump etc and I look like I have a small bungalow on my back, which is heavy when you walk quite a distance to and from a beach or harbour.

near the seaside

Paddle boarder on the south coast

Have a 10.4 x 32 inflatable which is perfect for a pootle out and stable for beginners

Also a 13ftx30 for myself

Inflatable is just better

Transport it in a boot of a car

Take it on the train

Take it as a second bag on the plane

Just better

We've got an inflatable sup, it's brilliant, use it mostly in Cornwall, but we have used it on the north sea. Easy to transport and carry to the beach, unlike our sit on top kayak, which is a pain on the beach even with the trolley..
