My wee sister is 16 and working 50+ hours a week in a care home. She’s just moved into her first flat with her friend (who she also works with) and I couldn’t be more proud. Anyone who knows me knows how much I moan about her

Honestly I didn’t think she’d be capable of this. I adore her, but she’s very....manic. I mean in a way which she changes her mind ALL the time. She left school at sixteen because she didn’t enjoy school (which is fair enough). But she wanted to go to college, wanted to be a lawyer, a designer, wanted to go to uni and do teaching etc. Just could never make up her mind. Wanted to do a business course. She’s very ditsy (I managed to convince her very easily that koalas aren’t real) but my god, she’s thriving and I’m so proud.

She’s also such a little shit

My father

I loathed him growing up, thought he was a weak and ineffectual man.

As I grew older I began researching his war career and by the time he died, he was my hero and I had the chance to make sure he knew that and we managed to repair our relationship

And yes you may get annoyed by her, but know this. She worships you. You are her role model and she couldn't ask for a better sister than you.

Hubby. Diagnosed with cancer last year.. Had a massive op to remove a 2 lb tumour and three feet of gut. Undergoing chemo. Having to self isolate for up to 6 months.

And he's worried about me burning out so brings me breakfast in bed every morning

I got over 2 years of agoraphobia. Only ever going in 2 rooms in my own house. Not even my garden. I'm proud to say I beat my phobia. It was hard work but worth it xx

It's not my pride because it's not my doing, but I'm so proud of my sister for overcoming some serious health issues and being in a stable long term relationship and taking big steps on a potentially high flying career. She seems to have forgiven me for not being the big sister she wanted.

My dad has had some phenomenal health issues and carries on, seemingly unperturbed by the number of times he probably should have died.

An odd one. Over fifteen years ago I saw a cousin of mine for Christmas. Our parents couldn't be more different and her parents actively disparage education. But, this Christmas she asked me about university. I'd been quite taken with a particular course I'd done and described it to her. For a number of reasons I never returned to that subject. To this day, every time I see her, she has questions about that thing I studied once and happened to talk about over the plastic table in my grandparents' backyard. It is of no consequence, most likely... but I lit a fire in her.

My 7 year old daughter for being the most caring and kind human despite seeing and being part of some unpleasant things. For 2 years of her little life I was barely able to put a roof over her head. Today we live a good life. So I guess I’m proud of me too!!

Very proud of all 3 of my daughters, all completely different and unique, I could fill pages but to summarise they all grab life to the full and in doing so can be a right pain sometimes , but retain lovely qualities like kindness , generosity, respect for others.

Proud of my little sister as well. I couldn’t do her jobs. She works with the police in the sexual assault referral centre so is on call 365 days of the year. If someone is assaulted she goes and does all the swabs and sits with them whilst they give their statements. She’s just finished 3 years working in the Cancer hospital in Cardiff where she was a psychologist and now is a behavioural analyst at her majesty’s pleasure.

My partner. I'm proud of him because he left an amazing family and country behind just so we could be together. He's supported me through the darkest times of my life with his love and I know I wouldn't be here without him. I'm also proud of what an incredible dad he is. And speaking of my little mess maker, I am proud of her too and she amazes me every day even if she doesn't do much.

My sister, for battling her drug demons and been drug free for over 20 years now. She’s my best friend.

My daughter, separating from her dad was a hard time for us all, she’s so caring and thoughtful and always helps, and is great big sister. I’m unbelievably proud of the young lady she is
