Lad I work with gets it really bad recommended stretching the psoas muscle more regularly which helped reduce the amount of flare ups he has but I'd always recommend you see a physio

It’s a bitch.

Routine stretching is the only way as you probably know.

I feel your pain

Very tiring and will wear you down. Had it for years on and off. Went to loads of specialist but nothing worked then was advised to take up cycling. One is started it went away after about 6 weeks. If I stay of the bike for a couple of months it comes back so now I keep cycling and it keeps me fit. Hope you find relief. It a horrible feeling

There must be some sciatica specific yoga on YouTube, try to have a mirror handy to make sure you have good form while you follow along

"Anybody and advice ??"

Get a tennis ball and massage your piriformis. Either sit on the ball or do it against the wall. Roll it around until you find an area where it hurts, and hold it for 10-15 seconds. Release and massage the area around it.

Also, stretching and strengthening your core. Pilates could really help.

Agree with this, I would use a lacrosse ball however

I find it helps to practice some tai chi warm up exercises to rotate the lower back and pelvis - it's very effective. There are a couple of videos on YT which demonstrate how.

This gave me some relief from the pain, I also do this everyday when I get in from work. I’ve not had sciatica for about 15 years after 2 years of hell with it. Not sure whether this actually did anything Long term but I swear by it

Lie on the floor

Rest head on video cassette box; or something similar height

Raise knees, with legs bent at 90 degrees and feet flat on floor

Place hands on stomach

Stay in position for 15 mins

I’ll try and explain a good stretch

Sit on the edge of the bed and put the ankle of the effected leg on to the top of the knee of the other leg. The push down on the effected leg if that makes sense

Yoga and Pilates helps I have few flare ups now but the stretch that was described is most beneficial

I had physio for it although that's stopped because of lockdown. I was given stretching exercises and ones to improve my core muscles. It helps, i just need to carry on doing them !

I've suffered quite bad for years, but regular exercise keeps it as bay. Before lockdown I had monthly deep tissue massages and reflexology. Currently using an acupressure mat to relieve any tension.

Try and move about as much as possible, it's the only way it gets better... And be careful if you contact your gp about it... Mine lead to a massive painkiller addiction

First find the cause of your sciatica. Then treat it. Stretching will help in the meantime but until you've found the root cause you'll just be treating the symptoms

Sacroiliac stretches and anything that relaxes the piriformis.
