David Icke has been removed from Facebook. Very strange. Are the authorities trying to hide something. More to this than meets the eye !

It probably due to the FAKE news and stupid conspiracy theories he spouts.

I don't understand how any intelligent person can possibly take him seriously?

I hold no candle for Mr Icke, I'm just suspicious of any attempt to muzzle people with different views, however unsavoury they may be. The solution is pretty simple. If you dont like what he says, dont watch.

I don't need a faceless social media giant to protect me from people I disagree with.

If you believe the government doesn't do undersided things that hurt citizens all in the pursuit of money or to see how far they can push it then your gullible yourself, in my opinion.

Just look at history & it alone will tell you how nasty & underhanded they can be and ask yourself if conspiracy theories are incorrect then why are these people often hunted by the government's to the point of death in some cases. Why is he being hacked by government if it's nonsense?

Why do we not have cars running on water when bit has been invented, oh yeah the guy mysteriously died & his plans "lost"

What about the Tesla's work? Most of it disappeared under government wraps too.

How did these theory's come about in the first place without a reason to suspect?

There is a reason Trump is president, he's an idiot & can be fooled.

You should also remember individuals can be charlatans and megalomaniacs.

The problem with most conspiracy theories is that they rely on being impossible to disprove. And result in people saying well if you cant proove me wrong it must be right.

Yep,that's the same basis lots use for believing in a "god" you can't prove or disprove it.

Most folk we now consider to be genius' we're classed as "mad" in their day & ostrisised for thinking differently, some killed for it too. It takes thinking differently to the masses for revelations to be made though.

Facebook is not 'the authorities', it is a privately owned website whose rules you agree to abide by when you sign up, break the rules they kick you off.

Then you (as a society) revisit the decision about whether to censor something.

Society doesn't decide what is censored though. The media, government and big businesses do. Social media was supposed to be able to give the individual the power of expressing their opinions unfiltered. This isn't

the actuality though is it.

The likes of Facebook can't win. Only a few years ago they were getting hammered for not cracking down on the likes of Cambridge Analytica for spreading misinformation.

Since then they've said they'll be tighter on that type of thing, particularly where it encourages dangerous behaviour.

In this case, he was saying that a virus can't spread through a handshake amongst other weird things.

I know its a fine line, but in this case I think it's probably justified. Problem is that anyone who is banned claims they're being "silenced" and uses it to get their more rabid followers to take up their cause.

Not an easy one at all

There are things you can't do or say on Fabswingers and if you do or say those things you get kicked off here too.

I'd need to check but I'm sure one of the social media channels said he'd been banned for "repeatedly violated" their regulations (which suggests he'd already had warnings).

The question to that is, is that because people want to live in ignorant bliss.

The science on how viruses & bacteria are transferred is pretty conclusive. Yet you've got bigger idiots like Trump, who is a leader of billions telling folk to inject disinfectant!

now how did that idiot to be president? We'll big business wanted him there so they could do what they like. Including but not limited to making it illegal to protest against any of the oil lines regardless of the damage they do & signing off on extracting resources from the grand canyon, all of which done under lockdown so it couldn't be objected.

This is why freedom of speech is important.

Bullying doesn't fall under freedom of speech in my opinion.

Societies never speak with one voice because, especially western societies, they are usually conflicted on pretty much every major issue and subject. That is why we elect leaders to make those decisions. True they are influenced by the media and other groups but if we dont like their choice in theory we dont elect them again.

I understand what you say but we both know that political parties are now more of a popularity contest between media friendly leaders these days. The parties are less about standing up for their beliefs and more about how they can court the public without contradicting the core foundations on which they were founded.

I understand what you say but we both know that political parties are now more of a popularity contest between media friendly leaders these days. The parties are less about standing up for their beliefs and more about how they can court the public without contradicting the core foundations on which they were founded. "

Absolutely. Which is why trust in and respect for politicians is pretty much non existent now.

Which circles back to conspiracy theorists being able to say the authorities are lying to us all, and people being willing to believe them.

David icke, is also the reason only the media can film outside of houses of parliament. He was filming there everyday, hassling people as they went to work, filming without consent.

He is rude, thinks he is about other people and makes a fortune, saying this stuff, he has set up hs own media company and employs his ex wife and his children to make films to encourage others to believe these theories. But only to make tons of money.

Okay. No one is silencing him, as evidenced by what you just said here:

It's not really censorship though. It's a private company saying they don't want that on their particular platform.

There are plenty of other places he can spout whatever madness he wishes.

If it were "The Government" locking him away, then I would defend him.

At present it's just the same as me not allowing my Uncle Terry into my house, as he is an unconsionable racist.

I'm not stopping him anywhere else, just on my property.

It's the very definition of censorship.

Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information, on the basis that such material is considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or "inconvenient." Censorship can be conducted by governments, private institutions, and other controlling bodies.

If you ban your uncle from visiting you based on the fact

that you don't want him spitting his racist bile to you and your family then you have censored him. You have denied him a platform in which to state his obnoxious beliefs.

I think that while it is important to protect the more vulnerable members of our society, it is also important to challenge and debate with people who have different views from us, it is a way to learn about each other and to understand the issues on a deeper level. We once had a BNP style party debate along side other political parties, because if you stop them attending they shout about it. Because we said they could attend they panicked an withdrew, probably not prepared for an actual debate.....

I'd argue his communication is not being suppressed. That is entirely different.

He is free to provide his own platform and no one would stop him.

It's probably semantics though. I think most people use the word censor now, in relation to state censorship.

Ultimately, it's perfectly legal to deny someone the use of your privately owned platform.

Every business service has terms and conditions for use of its services, including fab. If he doesn't abide by them, they can stop him using the service.

During this pandemic it's extremely important that people have access to truthful information, rather than anything else that may harm society. His unsupported nonsense is likely to be dangerous and may cost lives.

He has been against 5G. People have burned and attacked radio transmission towers, including those used by emergency services. If you were waiting for an ambulance to arrive for your child, who subsequently died etc, due to 5G conspiracy nuts who burned the masts near you, you would refuse them the right to use your business to promote dangerous BS.

I'm unaware of any of his conspiracy stories having any factual basis.

He's got 1 priority - himself. He gets his ego stroked and his millionaire bank balance increased.

5G isn't as great as folk make it out especially for other species like migrating birds, they get disoriented & fly into buildings and die by the flock much in the same way sonar disrupts whales causing them to beach (mainly whilst hunting for oil to rip from the earth) It's not all about humans.

Tell me where really is the need to be able to send something a nano second or 2 quicker? There isn't except in a capitalist world and the amount of energy that data centres and servers use (especially for videos, largely porn btw) is ridiculous. Much required less for text & calls.

That is part of the reason people are against 5G.

Can always use a land-line it doesn't get disputed by cell towers being down.

I'm not convinced by the bird argument. This is not a brand new piece of the spectrum being used here, it's been used for decades (just not for this purpose).

However, people can campaign against 5G, that is their right.

But that's very different to saying it causes Covid-19, encouraging people to go out and burn these things down.

"

Can you show any proof of this?

The frequencies used for 5G have actually been in use for decades for other uses. Amongst other things, they are commonly used for communication between mobile phone towers, and also for radio telescopes.

No, of course not - if you want to upload pics of you holding a kitten there are plenty of sites where you can. This is why you'll get Google censoring search results, government warnings about misinformation on facebook and Wikipedia links at top of youtube page if you enter a controversial word.

These sites are run by powerful establishments who are worried about anything that goes against the official narrative and people reading it.

There's enough real problems in the world to deal with, we don't have to make other ones up..."

You're saying that it's true that Iraq has WMDs and Blair n Bush are telling the truth?

The man is a twat and thrives on both his twat infamy and twisting the ears of flat earth believers.

I care not for him, his lizards or the people who are daft enough to fall for his Jedi mind tricks.... good goalie for Coventry though

Just another very rich person coining it in, potentially on the backs of those in misery.

He can't expect to use private services and to push unsubstantiated garbage that puts lives at risk. Likewise the anti-vaccer movement should not expect to peddle dangerous lies via social media. They are putting many lives at risk and are a serious danger to the public.

Icke is just another of those on the bandwagon, hawking BS to the gullible, so that they sustain PR for their egos and rake in easy money at public cost.

You could alternatively consider that most people are not prejudiced against him but have researched and created their own conclusions.

Check his accounts. 2018 compared to 2019 showed he was losing money, one of the few that's happy about Covid no doubt, his earnings will be back up this year.

These questions about David Icke are very serious. I was discussing this issue with a lizard friend of mine while we were clearing bullet cases of a nearby grassy knoll. This wasn't a social conscience thing, we were just whiling away the time while waiting for a bus to take us to the studio where they filmed the moon landings. The tour there was to have been given by Elvis Presley, but unfortunately he was busy organising a secret conference for the Bilderberg Group, the illuminati, the Freemasons, George Soros, Hilary Clinton, Barak Obama etc at a Pizza Restaurant in Washington where there are secret tunnels underneath. Anyway I said to my friend ........

Have you considered that he may, just may have a mental illness. If he does suffer from mental illness which contributes to his views then is he a Twat then ?

Your argument could be used to excuse all behaviours, I'm sure you dont mean to do that or do you? I was going to use Hitler as an example but I forgot that Ike and his acolytes don't believe the Holocaust happened.

So yes he's a twat.

Well he certainly brings a new perspective.. I remember an old interview with Terry Wogan.. I detested the way he was set up to be laughed at.. it was almost cruel.. I believe he passionatly believes what he believes.. he is no Deep South Gospel conman.. fascinating man..

Many people fervently and passionately believe what they believe - it helps when beliefs can be peer reviewed and fact checked. Otherwise we just end up choosing things we like best. Science is a bit less democratic than this.

I saw that Wogan interview too. He wasn't set up but prior to the TV show he was widely reported in the papers as saying he was the son of God. Wogan made fun but let's face it who wouldn't.

I'm a little bit too educated to be wasting valuable life time on his rhetoric and you should too.

Aka.. a person with mental health issues .. perhaps..

I have suffered mental health issues in my life so I try not to judge.. all I can say is this..

I went to a psychiatrist because I actually believed that I was a Labrador in a previous life.. he asked me to lay down on the couch.. I said I am not allowed on the couch...

I think if you have a look, Religion and religious persecution has killed more people than Stalin. I don’t accept that Cults should be allowed to pitch their vile and dangerous beliefs. Trump has cult followers as well - that went well.

I don't think we can necessarily conflate bad or destructive behaviour with mental illness. Conspiracy theories are held by plenty of people with no appropriate diagnosis, who are just susceptible to manipulation.

And some manipulate for their own purposes, of course.
