Would you call it a Lifestyle?

It's common for some people - perhaps moreso in the States - to refer to Swinging as "the Lifestyle."

What do you think/feel about this?

For me, it's an inaccurate label, perhaps it implies a commonality amongst swingers that I think does not exist.

Plus, for some people/couples, this involves friendships, socials and so on. For others, it's just about finding extra people to shag.

However, what I like about the term is that it acknowledges that many of us do not just Swing. We *are* Swingers. I like that feeling of almost belonging to a secret club, or being part of a secret society.

What about you?

In a town full of colours

I suppose it depends on how you define swinging, there are many ways people label it. Personally for me I agree with saying the lifestyle, but only as a basic general label, purely because my family/friend lifestyle and fab lifestyle will never mix, they are two separate sides of me

I dont get hung up on names, you would be constantly offended/disappointed/annoyed otherwise with how people describe things.

For me though, swingers do have a massive common ground. You are in a non monogomous relationship.

Singles, it would mean you play with couples and would enter a swinging relationship over a monogomous one.

Sure, we can all be on this site and go to clubs/socials, but the above defines what actually is a swinger to me, and would happily say either that I am a swinger or that I am in the lifestyle x

I consider it a lifestyle, if I just wanted a shag I would be on a hook up app. It being a "lifestyle" doesnt suggest we are all the same just that there is more openness in our pursuit of the kinds of sexual interactions we want. Along with that comes a variety of social interactions including platonic and non platonic friendships. I may not share my friends kink but I may know someone who does and put them in touch. My friend may not be my cup of tea sexually but we can share experiences and chat about things that someone outside the lifestyle may be shocked by. I consider lifestyle an inclusive thing not something to exclude others does that make sense?

When people refer to this (whatever this is) as being a lifestyle, it makes me think their life revolves round it

Yes, I've sometimes thought that too.

This is somewhere in the middle for me. It's not my life. I don't go on swinger's holidays, make many swinger friends, etc. However, it's definitely more than a shag, as far as I'm concerned.

hiding from cock pics.

I feel like it's a lifestyle for me.

I enjoy being part of the community, supporting the clubs and festivals and I feel I am a lifestyle swinger

Lifestyle would suggest that this is one of the priorities in life and other things come second ? Or have to comply with it?

Social labels require a name for something that is in reality completely natural in almost all living things.

I dont really have a name for it except for 'existing' but i understand why some want to label it.

Plus for those who exist in a different way, seeing the 'Swingers' label is sometimes a good warning label to stay away.

We'd definitely say we're involved in the lifestyle. But then, levels of involvement wax and wane and we've found some amazing friends through it that go way beyond anything we thought we'd find when we started.

Not in the slightest, we're all adults and chose how much involvement we want at any given time don't we?

Why get hung upon titles it is what you want it to be

Swinger or lifestyle we are not fussed, as long as you are nice to get on with , nice to socialise with and play there is no need for titles
