ANTS - Extremination ideas please

we have more this year than before appearing through 'nests' appearing by external walls ...

would appreciate suggestions for trying to rid them - other than pouring boiling water over them??

My house gets flying ants hatching out from under the floor tiles in the hall every year. I use powder, tip it between the tiles and skirting boards and tins of raid ant killer.

It's a misery every time the sun shines I sympathise with you.

our garden is full of red ants nests i used raid ant spray the other day and it did the trick although not been out there since but getting another can and some powder tomorrow and heading back out there to make sure they are all gone

well technically its not biting its spitting a nasty acid on you and yes they do makes hanging out washing interesting quite a few times i've had to pull my trousers off quickly as they have got inside them

We had a major problem with them the past few year. We kept putting ant killer down and it helped a bit but we needed a new window in the kitchen as it was a wooden frame and they ate through it!

We have had a new patio put in to hopefully that has disturbed them this year

i have them outside the flat every year and this year looks like i spilt the flour outside while baking pmsl, the floor is covered with ant powder but does the trick.havent had any inside as of yet but hoping the powder has stopped them before they get to wipe their little feet on the mat.

The best solution for ants inside your house is a jam jar lid full of either honey or treacle. It attracts the ants like you wouldn't believe, but once they get in there, they are stuck and can't get out. After a few days you are ant free.

thankfully at present they are limited to the outside but with so many we're worried one day soon they'll find a route indoors

nippon ant killer.

get a few lolly sticks or something like that. place the nippon gel along the sticks and wait.

the ants love it and with in time rush to eat the ant killer and share it with each other.

ive used nippon gel and nippon ant stations and all off them have worked.

Ants live in tunnels underyour floor.

Pouring boiling water only kills those outside the nest or just inside.

It's pointless as the Queen just keeps laying and laying and laying.

See where they come out of or go into.

Buy DETHLAC

It's like hair laquer and dries shiney.

Clean your floor and skirtings.

Spray them with DETHLAC.

It dries hard and it still kills them for a couple of weeks after.

Use nippon too cos they take that to the queen.

Get filla and fill their holes in.

( not their arses that takes ages )

This also works with wasps! If you can access the nest, place a dish with parrafin, diesel/gas oil (red diesel) or kerosene under the nest and leave it overnight. DO NOT set fire to it. When you return in the morning you will have a dish of crunchy dead wasps. If the nest is in the ground, wait for dark and pour the diesel down the hole. DO NOT try when the wasps are active!

got two big nests in my garden also.

luckily just normal ants, and far enough away from the house for it not to be a problem.

but the lawn mower sinks into them when mowing the lawn.

simply use two Nippon ant station. Just a few ants take the powder back home and poison their own nest. Every year i used to get powders and sprays, till i used Nippon. ive left the same two ant station tubs under the bush for 10 yrs and never had ant since. They last a long time!

my neighbours kid eats em. Half term next week, maybe a holiday job?
