So....

Amidst all of the madness surrounding the world "iron" mike has been keeping us entertained by posting training videos in preparation for charity fights.

Speed, power, flexibility and somewhat stamina and fitness seem to be resurfacing very nicely but the question is....

Does Mike Tyson actually have it at 53 years old to go beyond 4 charity exhibition rounds or is this whole thing going to end in disaster and the baddest man on the planet gets badly hurt in the ring??

No way can he mix it with the current top HW’s today; he was washed up 15 years ago when he retired.

However

Do I believe it should happen? No

Would I watch it? He’ll yeah!!

I'm not obsessing with it but i do find myself keeping interest on it, the guy training him is a former ufc fighter turned trainer and his most recent "blog" has him admitting that mike Tyson at 53 hits harder and more accurately than most ufc fighters more than half his age.

I do catch myself wondering "what if".......

I wouldn't get in the ring with him that's for certain. Whilst not a contender, he is in great shape at the moment and they are just charity bouts...

I think he will still have the power as it’s the last thing to go In a fighter, but the stamina and lunch resistance will have gone. Boxers struggle with having 1-2 years out, Tyson has had 15 years.

A 4 round exhibition no problem , but professional fight he will get hurt against half decent opposition I feel sadly :/

This i fear is where it could become a problem and go disastrously wrong.

If he's smart and composed as he has been for the last 10-12 years he'll keep it sensible and not be goaded into a contention fight that will never appear and end up getting badly injured with a has been journeyman for ratings and publicity.

They had the same fears about George Foreman a granddad when he fought Hollyfield, even though Hollyfield just won on points he had to admit it was his hardest fight he ever had.

Tyson will be ok he is physically fit in mind & body, if he has half the ability he had years ago he should still match most of the heavyweights today

Precisely because they're exhibition matches the risk should be lower, even taking into consideration his current age.

In his 20 year old prime, Tyson could have taken on and potentially beaten any heavyweight that's ever stepped into the ring. Period.

Might not have the stamina but will still have most of the power. Think he could still take anyone out given an opportunity early on, still dangerous. After a couple of rounds though so not much.

He as said it would be great to have 2 records the youngest world champion & the oldest world champion, he is after fighting Hollyfield who himself might come out of retirement as none of today's boxers would fetch the money in like these 2 legends.

Put Tyson in the ring with AJ and Tyson will win in 3 rounds.. Anything other than those first 3 rounds it's a blood bath to AJ.. Pure raw punching at its finest would rattle any of the heavyweight division today and before someone mentions Wilder he isn't worthy of tysons left jab

See, this is what interests me, Deontay Wilder STILL insists he'd have had Mike Tyson in 3 rounds in Tysons peak. I'm starting to wonder if Mike tyson has enough composure to not be drawn into this cos I'm starting to think if Deontay Wilder is intending to call out Tyson at some point.

He's made too much of a statement too many times after Tyson fury dismantled him that he'd school Mike Tyson.

I wonder if there's a catastrophe looming on the horizon involving Tyson and Wilder......

People's biggest misconception of iron mike is that he was a brawler, from his debut age until his court/prison demise he was probably the most technically gifted boxer since Ali

The thing with Tyson is that he is an unknown package. HIs heart and mind failed him, not his boxing prowess. He didn't have the appetite to fight after his trainer died and it was all just about the money. He was the most brutal boxer I have ever seen and I'd love to see him fight with passion again. Boxers can fight at a physically high level up to 40 so I think his chance to mix it with the best is unfortunately long gone.

Tyson wouldn't get a licence for a professional fight, never going to happen after 15 years out the ring.

Always a fan of his though, scary as hell in his prime.

After 15 years retired and 53 years of age Mike Tyson is planning to fight 4 round exhibitions as long as he sticks to that format he will be fine.At his age the chances of him getting a boxing license to fight the pros I would say are slim but in the USA anything is possible.

don't think he would go any further in pro ranks he lost to danny Williams a british fighter who lost over 20 times since he stopped Tyson .Tyson himself showed when hit he could not take big shots todays top 10 would show him right up

When his trainer died.. he was actually his adopted father.. so he lost a father not just a trainer but Tyson still had his original team around him, even after Cus died.., he went down hill after he fired Kevin Rooney.. he was surrounded by leaches.. he was young and had multi millions in the bank and don king manipulated him and his ex wife messed his head up constantly..

If Tyson haven’t fired Kevin Rooney he would have been undefeated for a lot longer and no way would he have lost his first fight. Kevin Rooney was the one who would shout numbers at him from the corner.. those numbers were his deadly combos.. but after firing him he just became a head hunter he did not have that movement, that peekaboo style slowly started to fade he relied on his power.. even to a point where he would train properly for fights because he thought he thought he was too powerful.. it just goes to show how a boxer can lose his ability without the right camp.

Mike has kept himself in good shape since he retired, and whilst he isn’t going to be as fast as he was in his prime, it would be foolish to write him off. His mindset may have changed, but he will still be the same brutal fighter that changed heavyweight boxing

A short charity fight should be the extent of it. Good to see he is in good shape and keeping fit.

But anything more than that is just dangerous to himself and after a couple of rounds in a pro fight would be in massive trouble. Power is the last thing you lose. But the speed is never the same. Despite what a you tube video may encourage you to think.

Boxing isn't a game. Stay retired. One of the greats. Nothing to prove.

When Mike Tyson beat Michael Spinks he record stood at 35 fights 35 wins 31 by knock out.It was also the last fight that Kevin Rooney would be in his corner the last link to the legendary Cus.After that fight Tyson stopped been great he no longer moved his head side to side , stopped throwing combinations , no longer trained as hard as he used.If Mike Tyson had joined the Kronk gym managed by Emmanuel Steward perhaps things could have been different.
