People aren't willing to pay for British made stuff in all areas nor are many people willing to work in gruelling manufacturing jobs.

There are certain things we probably wouldn't want to make here and if we were to do so getting production up and running, building new factories etc, would cost a fair bit, take time and add pollutants to our air. I certainly would prefer it if we could build and buy all that we need in British, and Ireland, but it wouldn't be cost effective imo.

Given the fact high streets are getting ever emptier because most British people would rather shop at Amazon it's kinda laughable to suggest that the british public will suddenly start buying British products and supporting british tax payers.

The current beef surplus is horrendous.... given the market conditions and lack of demand we should be paying at least half of we are paying at the moment, especially buying British beef..... but nope still being ripped off.

The only good thing is cheap petrol/diesel atm.

Doesn't that just tell you the producers were getting screwed beforehand and margins are too tight to reduce any further. Don't see many rich cattle farmers about lately....

Sadly we no longer build factories just million sq ft distribution centres for the likes of Amazon and most other on line sellers. To alleviate boredom I searched the internet to find out how much empty warehouse space was available

in my home county, just shy of 20 million sq ft up for grabs yet just down the road from me they have received planning for a 25 million sq ft distribution park.Madness or what.

Yes to an extent. We aren’t ever going to be able to grow mangoes and pineapples but we could stick to other British produce. The world is about to become a lot less smaller sadly.

we have ran down manufacturing for 30 years or more and we have lost most of the skills that go along with it . That's why we struggled to get any ventilators built in the uk under short notice. we just don't make the components etc here anymore and it would take years and cost billions to even try on a small scale to compete with china and India etc .plus no ones willing to pay double the price of a chinese or Korean product for a uk model they possibly won't be any more reliable

It would take decades to rebuild a manufacturing base, and the cost would be huge....... not only that the final product would be expensive due to the employment costs and taxes associated. Nice theory to buy British, but that ships sailed to the east long time ago.

Dairy not so much, but cattle for meat are still doing exceedingly well, the one closest to me just bought his son a 911 for his 21st birthday.

Sadly we don’t make much stuff now and we all buy cheap Chinese shit like our lights taps and just about everything else and it dies go wrong.

I work on specialist stuff and I band Chinese shit years ago because it was inconsistent shit and poorly made.

We are victums of ourselves we wanted cheap over reliability.

the government give us cheap imports to lower the price.

whilst pricing out our own products our own companys cant produce the same for cheap.

you all want high wages, you want minimum wage.

health and safety another cripperling system cripperling the industry.
