Do we need maccy D’s

So with the lockdown some people have been getting fitter with more exercise and less eating out!

My question is do we need these unhealthy restaurants ?

Surely we are better off cooking properly!

we don't "need" fast food but some people like it. I don't see why everyone should do without it because some people eat too much of it.

I think there's a balance to be had. Economically it'll help having these places gradually reopen. Psychologically bringing a sense of normalcy and reducing stress, particularly in children who may not entirely understand what's happening (I listened to a podcast on psychological well-being of children during this recently).

These places are certainly demonised, but life is challenging, and it's one thing people might use to cope.

Certainly not my food of choice. Not like the king of foods: curry

other posters are correct we don't 'need' a maccys . However, a lot of people seem to still want one. My feelings are that I don't and not having eaten fast food for over a year I would probably be unwell after doing so .. my body is not used to all the rubbish that goes into them.

Though I imagine post lockdown their popularity might start again .. although I don't believe it should having been working at home training , home cooking, improving body and mind during lockdown and helping to save the planet by accident too .. we can eat better and live longer if maybe we never saw a flipped burger or 'corenelled ' chicken ever again

No we don't need them but unhealthy food tastes the best

Sure we are better off cooking properly but personally I'm a ping man or I eat out and I look for healthy food on the go.

It wouldn't bother me if places like McDonald's and KFC never opened again. Give me any old burger van before them.

We would but in a unperfect world we don't have the time or the energy, besides it people choice to eat them.

To answer your question nope we could very easily survive without junk food.

But the general concerns of lockdown is more people have put on weight and eaten more junk than usual through boredom. An hour a day exercise is no where near enough for alot of people.

Yes its their choice to eat junk but different people deal with their insecurities, on different ways

I’m not missing it but I’m also not missing my 2hr work commute.

Sometimes you don’t want to cook after work and it’s convenient.

I’m not sure it’s going to taste the same though as I’m sure our palates will have changed a little since lockdown.

You don't. It's called personal choice. I agree, there are some positives to come from lockdown, a reminder of other choices available to us. As a species I think we will largely drop back into most of our previous 'bad' habits..

somewhere

Places like maccy D have their place, like when you roll out of a club at 2am and fancy something to eat before the drive home.

I find them useful when I have an early start on travelling to an event some distance away where grabbing breakfast before I go is not sensibly. But grabbing something hot when you've got most of the journey done and it's the only meal you'll have till the evening, it becomes quite useful.

But it's not a place that I'll visit otherwise, even if the youngest pesters for one, I'll try and find a better alternative.

Iv genuinely never understood the shit food to be classed as a treat

It is what it is for most ie not a treat but a cheap drug fix of salt carb and fat

Crack would most likely be less addictive and equally harmful

However I'm not against people needing a dopamine hit whatever your poison but it's not for me

I'm glad they exist though as some have said perfect "facilities" when needing a drop off

It's not maccy d's that's unhealthy it's the choice of food people make when they're in there that can be unhealthy.

Pretty sure that nearly every pub and restaurant has unhealthy options.

Weatherspoons big breakfast was voted the unhealthiest breakfast when a dr compared high street breakfasts and harvester had a Belgian waffle with 70plus grams of sugar.

Pretty sure my curry treat isn't the healthiest option but I'm a great believer that everything in moderation is ok.

Maybe not crystal meths but you get the idea
