Lots of books on all subjects in a random mess. We've had to put those with a sexual content (e.g. The story of O by Pauline Reage) in the loft as our place is rented out over the summer.

I'm just looking at them now. Some titles remind me of people that gifted and 'lent' to me. Others are reminders of people that have passed on. They show an interest in cooking and history. It's also apparent that when I like an a book, I'll go and read other works by the same author. Some books are on the do-not-lend list, others, sure take it with you.

But it's a new world now, I bought 2 paper books in the last 2 years and got multiple e-books in the same time.

I briefly went onto a kindle but I enjoy browsing bookshops too much and always buy something. We have a lovely 2nd hand bookshop in Northumberland that I can happily spend a couple of hours in browsing the shelves.

Between 4 of us we have quite a collection. Fiction for me, factual for hubby and a lot of old travel books from the days before kids.

Oh wow..been a while since I read any of that..I ve just finished a total academia of the moon in all its aspects which was also one page at a time..especially when it came to space time continuum and the mathematics of other related time and space and moon contemplations.

A number of rareties like 1st ed h/b Robert Pirsig. One off hand bound lord of the rings.

The list is almost endless. Maps is a biggy as well from very early to a big collection of os landrangers.

Nooooo...lol...I once did that then spent next few years buying them again. One time I decided I d have a clear out, you know, this pile stays, this pile goes. I had 500 books to sort. You ll never believe it..my pile to go after hours of sorting amounted to 5!! So put them back on shelves lol

Our book shelves, book floor, book table, book boxes and book chairs say that we are people with a wide range of interests and taste in novels. I think it shows that we have fairly specific but broad range of interests from the non fiction section but no idea what the fiction section shows.

I love books! my shelves have everything on them! I need more bookshelves to house everything and the collection keeps growing! we have everything from Dr seuss and children's classics to DSM-5 and Esther Perel (a favourite of mine).

Sometimes no better place to loose your self than in a good book.. or challenge your beliefs and morals in others.

The Kindle has it's place, in a suitcase, glovebox or when you're cooking and cant turn a page! But the smell of a book... cant be beaten!

One of the houses I lived in during the mid '00s weirdly had two dining rooms so I put floor to ceiling shelves in the one with the best light, had a lovely comfy squishy chair and used to sit reading in there. It got more use than my lounge, and I loved it.

I've moved around a lot and had to shed a lot of possessions, and most of my books went in the cull (hence my reliance on kindle now).

I'm currently living somewhere that has enough space for me to hoard books again, but I don't have the heart, particularly when I don't know where I'll live next or how much space will be available.

Had a big clear out when I moved recently. Figured any modern fiction I'd already read I could easily pick up again if I felt the urge.

Got loads of unread so prior to Covid I was working through them on my daily commute, so lovely to have the luxury of sitting for an hour or two and reading.

We had just joined the library here prior to lockdown and I was suprised to hear you can now take out 20 books at a time! Used to be three back in the day.

My child devours books also so once lockdown has lifted the library will be the way forward for her (really good one here).

I love old cookbooks so I've still got a shelf full of those, plus special books that mean something to me but otherwise I've probably charity shopped two thirds of our stash.

Nothing beats the physical feel and smell of a book

get where you re coming from, apart from that one place, I ve lived my life a drifter so living in a building let alone having a library was not going to happen..but my rucksack always had a book or two, and living wild I deposited water tight containers of my necessary books in various places in the woods.

I ve never been able to read on a flight..for me I think its because theres too much sound and movement pollution..too much going on..if I m reading I like to zone right into that world..maybe thats why you do the same.

I don't keep books at all except for the odd reference book or one's I'm reading. That's what my local library and my phone are for. Not really keen on the thought of being judged by something like that.... ....my daughter's grandparents have a dining room lined floor to ceiling with shelves of shit they've never read and they organise it to make themselves look interesting at their dull dinner parties...

I love organising and re-organising my books. I havd an almost infinite to read list and piles of books which I may or may not read.

I sometimes buy second hand books purely because I don't think anyone else will buy it.
