I don't know the details of a non sexual touch workshop or what it involves. If it's people enjoying the experience of having human physical contact within boundaries it can only be a good thing.

It holds no interest for me because I'm lucky to have all the affectionate, human contact I need

It did make me go that people consider shagging a stranger/ relative stranger ok but non sexual hugging of one is somehow "creepy".

All of the feedback above is reasonably negative - actually to me it sounds kind of fun!

I’m quite a cuddly / huggy tactile type so a cuddle party sounds my kind of thing to be honest, as long as the same principles apply as to swinging in that you only mutually hug those you are happy to and have consent to - and that a polite ‘no means no’ - then what is the problem?

This is true. Most humans crave physical contact, even a stranger will do if you are desperate. People going through a trauma often crave a hug from someone who may be say, EMS, but they are still a total stranger. It's comforting.

Personally I couldn't pre-arrange a comfort hug with a woman, I just know I'd get a hard on.....

According to science cuddles can ...

Boost your immune system

Reduce stress

Help you sleep

Relieve pain

Boost mood

Increase heart health

None of which are sexual or intimacy reasons

And apparently many western people are touch deprived and we need 4 hugs a day for survival, 8 for maintenance and 12 for growth

So sounds like there are lots of points

I have seen a cuddle group although at that time did not feel comfortable joining in so I didn't. It was at an event where there were various workshops going on simultaneously so people could join in whatever they felt most suited to their interests at that moment.

I am at the very beginning of training to be a certified cuddle therapist.

I realise it is something not everybody would understand or have an interest in. You train on how to be able to to give somebody (none sexual) cuddles in order to help them feel happier and supported.

Looking at the picture of the group floor cuddle I notice two things. The girls all look either asleep or totally relaxed. The guys all look on edge and wide awake , maybe secretly thinking this is shit, thought I would at least get a good grope or trying to control involuntarily hard ons. I can’t see it catching on other than for groups of young girls with their token gay male friend.

I think most people understand the concept of giving someone a non sexual hug. I’d be interested to know who in the uk is providing certification though - VTCT ? Cache?
