Beltane

The 1st of May is the old Celtic festival of fertility and all things fruitful, fertile and fecund.

Celebrations to encourage growth and fertility in life included wrapping the phallic may pole, throwing unwanted stuff into the flames, wild dances with community round fires and plenty, plenty of fucking!

Oh well..none of that for Freya this Beltane.

But...

What areas in your life or aspects of yourself do you want to see grow into full bloom this year?

What are you wanting to throw into the fire to get rid of?

?

I'd like to see the study and self-improvement I've been doing at work come to fruition with a role change, my fitness continue to increase, and a friendship continue to bloom.

I'd like to throw the self doubt that's been trying to creep into my head lately into the fire.

Great post...Happy Beltane!!

Growth this year for me is all about belonging and creativity. Really prioritising and allowing myself to find and express what makes my soul sing, regardless of everything else.

What’s going in the fire? My decree absolute is coming in the next fortnight hopefully, so I’m expecting some final dregs to come up from that...no expectations tho, because often the skins we shed are the ones we least expect.

It’s a great post op.

It’s got me thinking and I’m really not sure I can answer currently.

There are many things I love about myself but there are also a few things I don’t.

I’m gonna do a bit of self reflection over an anonymous period of time and bump this thread when I have a definitive answer.

I just wanted to post because interesting self reflection threads like this disappear all the time without trace.

Yes!

(I'm with you on the burning of self doubt!! I've found so much time alone without distractions and human mirrors brings doubt!)

As ever my love, your thoughts and questions inspire a search...

There is a lot about my past I would like to feed into the fire, not the events and experiences themselves, they have shaped the man I am, but the insecurities that continue to gather as a result.

As for what I hope will bloom, there are two things. The first I think you can guess, and his name begins with C, and the second involves a leap of faith

Xx Xx

Consider more what matters to me. Develop my new job role and team.

Through into fire unhealthy relationships.

Going to get involved a bit more in a charitable organisation we are supporting. This year is all about giving back to the community!

I hope you don't mind me bumping this thread but it's beautiful and Sam is right, this sort of self reflective, interesting insight into others thread often disappears currently which is a shame.

So throwing into the fire - self doubt. My rather draining overthinking. My slight bitchiness, compared to who I was a few years ago it's nothing like it. Stil, I'd like to get rid of it and be better. Even those I'm not particularly fond of are going through things and being able to show kindness or a nice word (even if it's not reciprocated) would be good.

Growing into full bloom - my career but obviously that will take extra careful nurturing. My relationships definitely. This year I've realised that I am poly and there's nothing wrong with that so I'd like that to blossom magnificently. My fitness levels; I've lost almost a (small) adult in weight and want to carry on to a point where I am happy, healthy and confident.

Wishing you all the best Freya, I hope next year you have the ideal Beltane, x

Manchester (she/her)

What a lovely thread!

I've been going through a lot of cycles of immolation and rebirth the last couple of years (phoenix sort of thing, forgive the reference to a different culture). I'm enjoying the growth but would like the growing pains to slow.

But because of that I think my change needs to be more gradual than develop and destroy. All of my parts have purpose. I think I need fertiliser for some, shade and less watering for others. But it's all part of my whole. I suppose I'm just building forward to a time when I can act more decisively on my development.

I know what I need to throw into the fire, but not sure I can just yet as it takes precious people away from me that I only found through being the person I need not to be anymore Recognising it is half the battle I guess.

I missed doing any celebrations last night, but the moon peeped at me through my blinds whilst trying to sleep, to remind me to contemplate.

Oh god, it's all a set of horrible compromises sometimes, isn't it?

Just to echo Meli’s observation earlier that these kinds of threads often vanish too quickly. I’m only tentatively creeping my way back to the forums after a hiatus, and there are four people posting here who have shown kindness, support and love to me over the last few months. Having such friends is a gift, and these kinds of threads encourage us all to show our depth and heart Xx

Bright blessings to all who celebrate Beltane.

This is a quarter festival so based on a solar calendar. Which means although celebrated on 1st of May, it could also be the 5th May.

May you all have a list and fun filled summer xxx
