A girl I used to lets say fool around with when i was 19/20 has randomly messaged me today. We haven't spoken for 9 years and we are both married and living miles away from each other. She said that she saw my name on a friends fb profile and thought she would message me and has started telling me that she feels really bad about things ended between us, she loved me at the time but didnt know what she wanted.

Is there something else at work here or I am overthinking things?

Maybe she's having a tough time, many are. Saw you and now is being all nostalgic about what may have been.

Forget it, move on. Don't let it play with your head x

Don’t read too much into it, sometimes they just need to say how they felt.

You’re both bored and locked down, nothing more in it than that.

Sounds like a case of mind fucking but then it will keep you thinking about things for a week or so and alleviate lock down boredom.

Maybe there is, maybe there isn't.

Don't let it mess with your head though. Memories are sometimes best just left in the past.

Allow her, her closure, nice to hear from her, wish her well, then close off the conversation

Just sounds like her after some closure and reminiscing. It's ancient history.

I had an ex contact me on Facebook years ago, told me she was sorry with how things ended, said that she'd got married, showed me a picture of the wedding dress then blocked me

I just figured it was her way, albeit a little strange I thought.

"Maybe it’s her way of an apology "

A few years ago I received a letter (this was pre email/text days) from someone I vaguely knew, apologising for how she once spoke badly to me a few years previous? I had no recollection of the event..

You don’t know what’s going on in her life. Read and respond but without flirting. Don’t instigate chats

Everyone's on lockdown, some will have more time to think (and over think). Take that into consideration. It could genuinely have been bothering her how it ended.

Was she the type of person who had agendas for doing things? People don't change much.

Nothing more to it than she feels bad. If you want to, reply and say you forgive her, wish her well and then forget it. There's a lot could go wrong here.

We all have a lot more time to think at the minute so a think a lot of people with be reaching out, when under normal circumstances wouldn’t. What would be different though to talking to this woman than someone off fab? X

Some people can dramatically change over time.
