So... im usually on depo injection but its run out. I cant get hold of the family planning as they are not working.

Only thing i could think of was to order pills off superdrug. I havent used pills for 20 years. I do not want to go back to bleeding. I actually hate it. I used to be so heavy and painful can anyone let me know if they take mycrogynon packs end to end safely? Does this stop the bleeding? Its only going to be for 3 months or until i can get back on the depo.

Get the decogestrel one. No bleeding. You take it every day with no break but you need to take it at the same time (or within a few hours). X

My GP surgery is still open and they are still providing contraception. Could you try your GP first before trying something new? If the depo works for you, and you’re anxious about periods they may still be able to get you in? Or they may prescribe a different pill over the phone

Agree with the above. Phone your GP but make sure you tell them you want your regular contraceptive due to painful, heavy periods too.

ring your surgery and get them to send your usual prescription electronically to a chemist of your choice

Your GP should prescribe you something over the phone, but yes you can take the pill back to back to stop bleeding, I have done since June after a discussion with my doctor

She can’t it’s an injection. My daughter has the implant. They won’t do it at the moment.

Hey, I work in sexual health. You'd probably be best sticking to progesterone only as it would be less of a change. I'd personally recommend noriday as the type of progesterone in it - norethisterone is particularly effective at preventing bleeding.

I dont have a gp. I moved counties just before lockdown and in my old town doctors dont do contraception. They send you to family planning for everything.

When I went for the pill a few months ago they wouldn’t give me microgynon (can’t spell or be arsed to google it) they said I was too old for it so had to go on another brand which made me very very emotional. I stopped taking it in the end cos I’m not doing any shagging and it was making me either really aggressive or emotional. The last few weeks since coming off them I’ve felt more normal.

I have swapped between depo and the implanon for 20 years. They wont sterilise me cos i havent had any children and i would want a hysterectomy cos i was told you still have periods if your just clamped

I (Mrs) get the depo, mine runs out on the 5th however I have had the most horrendous period the last few days, like you I went on it more to stop the periods because of the pain. My GP won’t give me the depo because of the contact, however, they have given me Cerzette Desogestrel and assured me that once I start taking them I should experience no bleeding....we will see. Good luck x

When I was on the depo my GP used to give me the prescription to collect from the chemist then I would book in with the gp/nurse for them to do it

I had this with my GP. Argued with him, telling him that new guidelines state 45 for a woman who is fit and healthy. Showed him said new guidelines, and walked out with a prescription.
